🚨*BIG QUESTIONS FOR GREATER MANCHESTER*🚨

On Sunday, we learned that planning powers could be handed to regional mayors β€” allowing them to potentially OVERRIDE local planning decisions. πŸ—οΈβš οΈ

Now, Greater Manchester is set to receive over Β£500 MILLION to build new homes. πŸ’·πŸ˜οΈ

So people can understand:

I’m not against building new homes, we need them.

But surely we’re entitled to ask some serious questions… πŸ‘‡

🌳 1. Does the Green Belt still matter?
πŸ’° 2. Where exactly is this Β£500 million coming from β€” and who ultimately pays?
πŸ—³οΈ 3. What is happening to local democracy?
πŸ›οΈ 4. Do local planning authorities even matter anymore if decisions can simply be overridden?

Building homes is important. But so are democracy, local accountability and protecting the places we value.

Are we seeing genuine progress β€” or the steady centralisation of power away from local communities? πŸ€”

🚨 Mayors are being given new powers to override local council planning decisions on major developments.🚨

That makes one thing absolutely clear: The protection of our Green Belt and green spaces must be non-negotiable. 🌳

We need new homes β€” but not development at any cost and not by riding roughshod over local communities and local democracy.

🏘️ Brownfield first.
🌿 Protect the Green Belt and green spaces.
πŸ₯ Deliver schools, GPs, roads, drainage and public transport alongside development.

**If mayors have the power to override planning decisions, they must also have the responsibility to ensure essential infrastructure is delivered and communities are not simply overwhelmed.**

🚫 **No blank cheque for developers.**
🌳 **Protect our Green Belt.**
πŸ—οΈ **Infrastructure must come with growth β€” not years afterwards.**

🚨🏠 11 HMOs… AND NOW 39 MORE BEDS?! πŸ˜³β—

πŸ“’ **It’s confirmed:**
🏠 **11 HMOs already nearby**
πŸ“‹ All licensed or seeking renewal
βž• Now a **39-BED HMO** is proposed!

And this probably does not included any HMOs that were unregistered with Wigan Council with 4 beds or less before the Article 4 direction was passed.

🚫 **Residents have said NO MORE!**
🏘️ Railway Road is a **residential community β€” NOT an HMO hotspot!**
πŸ›‘ Enough is enough! πŸ”₯

**How many is too many? πŸ€”**

πŸ“’ **LISTEN TO THE RESIDENTS!**
βœ‹ **NO MORE HMOs!** 🚨🏠
