π¨ Mayors are being given new powers to override local council planning decisions on major developments.π¨
That makes one thing absolutely clear: The protection of our Green Belt and green spaces must be non-negotiable. π³
We need new homes β but not development at any cost and not by riding roughshod over local communities and local democracy.
ποΈ Brownfield first.
πΏ Protect the Green Belt and green spaces.
π₯ Deliver schools, GPs, roads, drainage and public transport alongside development.
**If mayors have the power to override planning decisions, they must also have the responsibility to ensure essential infrastructure is delivered and communities are not simply overwhelmed.**
π« **No blank cheque for developers.**
π³ **Protect our Green Belt.**
ποΈ **Infrastructure must come with growth β not years afterwards.**
