Our community garden is really coming into bloom this year, with thanks to the green hands of our helpers Lydia and Tilly.

We've got tomatoes in the green house and garden, nasturtiums, and an impressive squash, plus an abundance of mint!

We hope to be able to grow even more next year and offer volunteer opportunities to come and get involved...

Just a little majestic visit from this pair of swans last week. I think they were hoping for something a bit more exciting than our humble cups of tea! 🦢🦢

Mute swans are the most common here along the Wensum, and pairs often mate for life. A female swan is called a ‘pen’ and a male a ‘cob’. With the cob protecting the nest whilst the pen feeds, and both sharing responsibility for raising their cygnets. We’ve not seen any little’uns yet but there very much may be some further up or down the river.

If they are on the look out for some treats, you can feed them sweetcorn, potatoes, lettuce, oats, or seeds tossed into the water, but (despite everything we learnt as kids!) avoid bread as it’s not great for their tummies and lacks the right nutrition.
