Road Policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash in Linlithgow.

The incident happened around 12.20am on Sunday, 30 August, 2026, on Main Street and involved a grey Renault Clio and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended and the 48-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been made aware.

Inspector Thomas Mallinson said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and trace the occupants of the car.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened to contact police.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident is asked to get in touch as this may be able to assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting reference 0078 of 30 August, 2026.

West Lothian's River Kids Children's Charity is delighted to receive an incredible donation of £5,724.60 from Deer Park Golf Club.
The funds were raised as part of the Club's Annual Captain’s Charity Day in August 2026.
Deer Park Golf Club have been a dedicated supporter of River Kids for several years, and this latest donation represents the club’s continued commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of children in need.
Stephen Newman, River Kids Charity Manager, said: “Deer Park’s support over the years has enabled the charity to deliver a number of projects throughout West Lothian that have a profound impact on children experiencing poverty, enabling participation and personal development. We appreciate the effort that goes into organising such an event and want to thank everyone who took part in raising such a huge donation”
Neil Wightman (pictured left) of Deer Park Golf Club, added:
“River Kids do so much for the community throughout the year and the club are proud to be able to do what we can to assist local children experiencing deprivation. The Charity day is a great way of doing this and we pass our thanks to everyone who supported the event.”

Armadale Library is temporarily closed from today, Friday 28 August, to facilitate necessary investigation and works associated with planned improvements to the community museum offer within the building.

The closure has been required at short notice and we apologise for any inconvenience. We are working to establish the likely timescale with the contractor who is undertaking the work on our behalf and we will provide further information for library customers as soon as possible.

A planning application from Sky to build their new Scottish Campus in Kirkton, Livingston has been approved by West Lothian Council.

The development by Sky - who are a significant local employer - is viewed as a huge vote of confidence in West Lothian.

The application includes the er****on of a new three storey headquarters office building, extension of gym and development of a storage building, energy centre, solar PV arrays, attenuation ponds, MUGA, sports pitch, landscaping, car parking, cycleways, footpaths and associated works.

It also includes the demolition of the existing Sky 1 to 4 buildings and rewilding once the new building is occupied. Sky have described it as a ‘modern, ultra-low energy workplace designed for hybrid working and collaboration’ with capacity for over 3,000 staff and flexibility for future change. Sky

Roadworks Update at A801/B7066
Works have been commencing at both the B7066 in Whitburn and the A801 at Boghead Roundabout, which we understand has been causing significant traffic delays.
👉 Roadworks are planned well in advance and can be extremely complex to manage, especially when works commence on site. For example, a number of issues can arise whilst on site which are outwith control of the council, including availability of specialist contractors, emergency works from other external parties, inclement weather and unforeseen and underground issues found on site whilst works are progressing.
👉 The contractor at the B7066 has encountered issues on site with buried public utility services, which has caused some delays and as a result their work has unfortunately had a crossover with the planned road closure on the A801 which was never intended.
👉 The official diversion route for the A801 closure was deliberately put in place to take traffic away from the A706 on approach to Whitburn. The diversion route takes users along the A7066 towards Blackburn. Road users familiar with the area will of course still use alternative routes.
👉 As a result of the delays, council officers have instructed the contractor working at Armadale Road to remove the 4-way temporary traffic signals at Armadale Road and progress with other works in the contract along the B7066 further away from the junction. These relocated works on the B7066 will be carried out under two-way temporary traffic lights to relieve traffic congestion. Whilst there will still be two concurrent temporary traffic management set ups, this should alleviate traffic pressures on the primary route into Whitburn. Please note, that the original 4 way traffic light set up that is currently in place in Whitburn will need to be re-introduced at a later date to complete this section of the works, once the works on Boghead Roundabout and the A801 are complete.
