Monday evening as you all know is when we give up our spare time, abandon our loving families and venture out to get some quality training done.
And what a lovely evening it was! ☀️
A couple of the team had organised casualty evacuation practice using different types of stretchers and different methods of extraction.
For training purposes, the first 2 scenarios utilised our training mannequin which is quite handy because it doesn’t complain about comfort or pain.
On the final scenario we used a live casualty, and didn’t we live to regret that decision!🤣
We live and learn!🫣
We still had a lovely evening with some great team mates and enjoyed some of that sunshine! 😎

Would you know what to do if someone was in trouble in the water?
Remember:
📱 Phone 999 to get help
🗣️ Tell them to stay calm and float on their back
🛟 Throw rescue equipment to help them float

Never enter the water to attempt a rescue.
Knowing what to do can save a life.

Those keen eyed beach walkers among you may have recently spotted some sea trials in Weston bay. It has at last been agreed by HMCG and the Government to supply us with our very own rescue boat. This is to run alongside the RNLI to keep our waters even safer as the holiday season approaches. Further trials and crew training will be happening over the coming weeks…give us a wave if you see it! 👋🏻

🚨 📟 CALL-OUT NO 5 📟 🚨
27/1/26. Avon and Somerset Police contacted us in the early hours, along with Clevedon Coastguard and Avon & Somerset Search and Rescue with air support provided by HMCG Rescue 387 helicopter from St. Athan.

We were tasked to assist with the search for a vulnerable elderly male who was missing from his home in Worle.

Starting at the last known position, we gradually expanded our search area.
This was a tricky one given the urban environment. The missing man was eventually located and on-scene casualty care provided before being transported to hospital.

We all wish him a speedy recovery.

The teams were operational for 4 hours.

As a volunteer coastguard rescue officer, you could be involved in a range of situations, from mud, cliff and water rescues to searches for missing people. As a volunteer you will not be paid. You can claim a small amount for your time and expenses.

Over the past 12 months, Weston Coastguards have responded to a total of 126 incidents — each one a reminder of why the Coastguard exists and how vital teamwork, training, and dedication are in keeping people safe.

It is International Men's Day and today we are honouring all the men of HM Coastguard and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, recognising their unrelenting dedication towards keeping us safe out at sea and on the coast around the UK.

On Monday, 17th November, despite the temperature dropping to 3°, ourselves and our flank team from Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team, decided it would be a good idea to do some L&MPS training (Lost & Missing Persons)
Our 2 missing casualties sent the team a message requesting assistance. The OIC initiated a search plan and the teams located them both. After treating their ailments, we all returned to station for tea and cake.
You may wonder why we’ve left a lot of info out of the post…and there’s a good reason for that.

This post isn’t about us, it’s about others in the community!

You see while one of our team casualties was finding somewhere to hide, they came across a whole load or ‘kindness rocks’ carefully placed on our wonderful coastline. Each one had a lovely, thoughtful message written on them! The rocks were photographed and left un-disturbed 😊.
All we hope is that the group that put them there see this and know their work was found and has touched hearts!
