Loftus Community Fire Station

Today, crews from Loftus Community Fire Station joined colleagues from Grangetown and Redcar Community Fire Station, Cleveland Police, and the HART team for Exercise Seagull at PD Ports, Teesport.

The exercise simulated a fire on board the hybrid vessel Emerald Duchess and provided realistic challenges involving firefighting, casualty rescue, and multi-agency working.

Working alongside the ship’s master and crew, the exercise offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen teamwork, share skills, and practise operational procedures in a realistic port environment. It was fantastic to see all agencies working together and demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and effective communication throughout the scenario.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in planning and delivering the exercise, and to all the crews and partner agencies who attended and helped make it a success.

🚒 Drill Night 18:00 - 21:00 at Loftus Community Fire Station 🚒

Last night, firefighters from Loftus Community Fire Station were joined by our colleagues from Skelton Fire Station for a ladder drill training session, developing and maintaining vital operational skills used at a wide range of incidents.

Crews practised a series of core ladder drills, including:

✅ L1 – Slipping and pitching a 9m/10.5m ladder with a crew of four
✅ L2 – Slipping and pitching a 9m/10.5m ladder with a crew of three
✅ L3 – Slipping and pitching a 13.5m ladder with a crew of four
✅ L4 – Slipping and pitching a 13.5m ladder over an obstruction with a crew of five
✅ L5 – Pitching a 13.5m ladder in a restricted space with a crew of four

Regular training like this helps ensure our firefighters can safely and efficiently deploy ladders in a variety of challenging situations, from gaining access to property, carrying out rescues, and supporting firefighting operations.

🚒 September Round-Up – Loftus Community Fire Station 🚒

During September, Loftus crews attended 13 fire calls, including automatic fire alarms, cooking-related incidents, small outdoor fires, and providing assistance to vulnerable members of our community.

Firefighters also took part in Incident Command maintenance of competence training, ensuring command skills remain up to date and ready to support safe and effective incident management.

Thank you to our firefighters for their continued commitment to keeping our communities safe.

During a safer homes visit we will:

✅ Check existing smoke alarms
✅ Fit free smoke alarms if required
✅ make you aware of the different services we can provide

🚒🔥 What a fantastic evening at Loftus Fire Station! 🔥🚒

We were delighted to welcome a group of enthusiastic Squirrels to Loftus Fire Station for an evening packed with fun, learning and teamwork. 🐿️❤️

The visit began with a fire safety session, where the Squirrels watched a fire safety video and took part in a mock house fire scenario. This gave them the opportunity to learn what to do in an emergency and how to stay safe in the event of a house fire. 🏠🔥

After that, it was time to head outside and explore one of our fire engines! 🚒 The Squirrels took part in a teamwork challenge, working together to see which team could fill their buckets with water the fastest using firefighting equipment. 💦🏆

Throughout the evening, they also had the chance to:
👨‍🚒 Try on firefighter PPE�💦 Use a firefighting hose�🚒 Explore the fire engine and its equipment�🤝 Take part in teamwork activities�🔥 Learn valuable fire safety skills

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, plenty of excitement and lots of curiosity throughout the evening. We may even have inspired a few future firefighters! 👨‍🚒❤️

A big thank you to all the Squirrels, leaders and volunteers who visited us. We hope everyone enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed hosting it.

Community engagement and fire safety education are an important part of what we do, and it was a pleasure to share that with such a fantastic group.

🚒 Back to Training School! 🚒

Our firefighters recently returned to Training School to complete their Emergency Response Driving Refresher Course.

Delivered by our dedicated Driver Training Instructors, this one-day course takes place every three years to ensure firefighters maintain the skills and competence required to safely drive a fire engine under both normal and emergency response conditions.

The course included driving assessments, vehicle safety checks, and updates on current driving practices, helping crews remain confident and capable when responding under blue lights.

Regular refresher training ensures our firefighters stay safe, competent and ready to respond when our community needs them most.
