South Chingford Community Library

South Chingford Community Library To maintain and run a volunteer community library centre based in South Chingford.

To provide a customer facing service within the library that will provide a number of services including book lending, Internet Café, that will ensure both equality and inclusion of the diverse customers within the geographical area of Chingford

To recruit and train volunteers ensuring all community groups are represented

To secure grant funding from both local and regional resources to enable t

he sustainability of the library service and support community workshops and clubs being run by volunteers

To support the unemployed people within the local area and enhance their employability through the Community Job club and building up working partnerships with external organisations to give local residents access to facilities and support and assist residents in gaining training and employment

To have insurance for the assets of the organisation and to carry out CRB checks for volunteers

To facilitate community sessions and clubs that reflect the diverse nature of the community in Chingford ensuring the service is accessed by all client groups

Although we are not open as a library at the moment, as we are packing up ready for our move.

But we have a few items to sell, which we have displayed inside, so anything raised will go towards are moving fees etc and save a few items from going to landfill.

Plus tomorrow we will have a few cakes & drinks on sale

South Chingford Community Library will be moving location to 88 Old Church Road in June, a date is yet to fixed.

But as the new venue will be smaller and we can't take certain items with us, we will be selling a few items to raise much needed funds for any additional items we will need to purchase and help with removal costs etc.

Pop along on Saturday 13th June from 10am to 3pm, and see what we have for sale.

We are hoping to have a selection of items priced and displayed in the library on Saturday 13th June and must be collected then.

As everyone knows we will be relocating from 265 Chingford Mount Road to 88 Old Church Road in June 2026.

To allow works to continue in the library before our relocation, the library will be closed to the public for the remainder of this month, the only exceptions will be the craft club, knitters, and Steps into Work, and specific events.

We apologise for this inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding.

Looking forward to welcoming everyone in 88 old church road, keep an eye out for updated posts regarding our new opening.

Just a reminder of another month gone, and it's coming up to the 1st Wednesday of the month and Poetry Reading Group time again.

Everyone is welcome, you read your own poem or someone else's or just sit and listen.

This will be the last month our Poetry Reading Group will meet at 265 Chingford Mount Road, before our move to our new location at 88 old church road at the end of June.
