The staff of the High Commission for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines was honoured to attend the funeral service of the late Dr Vibert “Ray King” Cornwall, a prominent Vincentian figure who made an outstanding contribution to our community.

The High Commission paid its respects to the bereaved family and joined them in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Cornwall.

His Excellency High Commissioner Mr J. M. Brereton Horne shared a tribute in honour of Dr. Cornwall, as did former High Commissioner Cenio Lewis, reflecting on his life and the impact he had on those who knew him.

The High Commission extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the late Dr Vibert Cornwall. The High commission will continue to keep his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

May he rest in eternal peace. 🕊️

The High Commission for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines warmly welcomes the opportunity for continued engagement between Ghana and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

On Monday, 17 August 2026, His Excellency J. M. Brereton Horne, High Commissioner for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, High Commissioner of Ghana to the United Kingdom.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the longstanding friendship and solidarity between Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Ghana, while exploring avenues for further cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including tourism, education, agriculture and the blue economy.

The High Commission looks forward to building on these strong ties and advancing meaningful collaboration between our two countries. 🇻🇨🤝🇬🇭

The High Commission welcomed Dr. Nicolette Koko Rolihlahla Spring Lewis, who paid a courtesy call today.

Discussions included the publication of her books, Growing Up in Vincy and Uniquely Vincy, which celebrate and explore various aspects of Vincentian heritage, identity, culture, and lived experiences.

The meeting provided an opportunity for a meaningful exchange on the importance of documenting, preserving, and promoting Vincentian stories and perspectives, both at home and within the diaspora.

The High Commission looks forward to supporting continued efforts to showcase and celebrate the rich cultural heritage and experiences of the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. 🇻🇨

This will be an opportunity for members of the community to engage, share perspectives, and discuss matters of interest.

On 1st August 2026, the High Commission for St Vincent and the Grenadines was delighted to join the Vincentian community in Coventry to mark Emancipation Day — a powerful occasion celebrating our shared history, remarkable achievements and vibrant culture.

The event was hosted by the St Vincent and the Grenadines Association, Coventry, under the chairmanship of Ms Fiona Quaynor. The Welcome Address was delivered by Vice Chair Mr Calvert Antoine, with Mr James Quaynor serving as Master of Ceremonies.

His Excellency Mr J. M. Brereton Horne, High Commissioner for St Vincent and the Grenadines, delivered the keynote address, drawing a compelling thread from the history of emancipation through to the achievements of our people today and our collective aspirations for the future.

The event featured an impressive array of presentations:

* Dr Christian Welch offered an illuminating exploration of the various strands of Vincentian history.
* Mr Garfield Robinson of the UK Voice Media Group shared insights on media and community voice.
* Ms Jean Prescod provided vital information on the Windrush Compensation Scheme.
* Mr Nyrere Kelly of the Red Card Organisation spoke on the work of his organisation.
* Dr Nicholette Spring reflected on the Vincentian experience through her presentation, Growing Up Vincy.

The Counsellor was also in attendance, delivering a short presentation on consular services and conducting outreach to members of the community.

The occasion was further enriched by the presence of representatives from Vincentian regional associations across the United Kingdom, as well as the St Vincent and the Grenadines Associations National Council. Their collective presence was a proud and fitting demonstration of the unity, solidarity and strength of the Vincentian diaspora — one community, one people, standing together in celebration of our heritage and in pursuit of our shared future.

The afternoon was brought to life by a captivating drumming performance by Martin Osagyefo and Company, followed by an interactive drumming workshop — during which His Excellency himself demonstrated an impressive sense of rhythm, much to the delight of all in attendance!

Emancipation Day is a reminder of how far we have come and an inspiration for how far we can go. St Vincent and the Grenadines stands proud.

J. M. Brereton Horne in his capacity as High Commissioner for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the United Kingdom, attended the funeral service of Sir Garfield Sobers, which was streamed live in the Long Room at Lord's Cricket Ground.

Those in attendance included His Excellency Edmund Hinkson, High Commissioner of Barbados to the United Kingdom, and His Excellency Alexander Williams, High Commissioner of Jamaica to the United Kingdom. Also among the distinguished guests were former England cricket captain Mike Gatting and King's Counsel Martin Forde KC.

The occasion brought together members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the cricketing community, and other distinguished guests to pay tribute to the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Sir Garfield Sobers, whose contributions to the sport in the Caribbean and the wider world continue to inspire generations.
