Labour MPs voted for the settlement that takes £100m from Westminster. Then Labour councillors turned up to Full Council to complain about the consequences.

Pedestrianising Oxford Street does not make the traffic disappear. It moves it.

The Mayor's own screening document shows nitrogen dioxide on Piccadilly rising above World Health Organisation targets if the scheme goes ahead as planned. Cllr Tim Barnes, Cabinet Member for Growth and Planning, put that to Full Council on 16 September and asked for the full traffic and air quality analysis for the surrounding residential streets.

Residents in Marylebone, Mayfair, Soho and St James's deserve to see it before a single bollard goes in.

For four years Westminster Labour rolled over to the Mayor on Oxford Street.

At Full Council on 16 September, Cllr Paul Swaddle put it plainly: like a desert mirage, pedestrianisation evaporates every time you get close to it. The brave new dawn promised for the end of October now looks like three benches, a couple of trees and some bollards.

Westminster elected a council that would stand up for residents on Oxford Street. That is exactly what this administration is doing.

Blue Note opens in Covent Garden tonight. 🎷

Cllr Tim Barnes, our joint Deputy Leader: "We are delighted to welcome Blue Note to Covent Garden as it opens tonight and joins a West End jazz constellation alongside the likes of the Soho Jazz Festival, which ran last week, and legendary spaces like Ronnie Scott's. We're sure the Blue Note will strike the right note with music lovers from everywhere."

Opening up the council to the people who pay for it.

Cllr Paul Fisher told Full Council on 16 September how the new Transparency Hub puts performance dashboards, contracts, tenders and budget information in one accessible place, written for residents rather than local government professionals. Next up: searchable FOI requests and responses, and more of the council's data published online so residents can scrutinise the decisions being made in their name.

Nearly 10,000 residents have already had their say on Westminster's Budget Choices, with two of four engagement events held so far in Soho and St John's Wood. Cllr Paul Fisher told Full Council on 16 September it is one of the highest levels of engagement this council has ever seen.

With £100 million being taken from Westminster by the Labour government, difficult decisions are coming. We are treating residents like adults and asking you to tell us your priorities.
