Wandsworth is an amazing place to live. We are proud to call it home.

In May, during the elections, we promised to help increase and improve house building. The last administration saw a 43% reduction in new homes. All Wandsworth residents, in particular young and first time buyer deserve their stake.

We are pleased one of the first things the new Council administration has done is meet developers to support growth and delivery of new homes, jobs and investment across the borough.

Wandsworth Council brought together developers, investors and regeneration partners last week for positive discussions aimed at building constructive relationships and supporting the delivery of new homes, jobs and investment across the borough.

In the May elections we promised to work to improve housing standards. Wandsworth Council has begun that work.

The new Housing Improvement and Transformation (HIT) Board has been established to bring Councillors, Officers and residents together.

The previous Council Administration was badly rated by the government and residents deserve better.

We hope this new board ensures all residents live in safe, healthy and secure homes. Nothing less should be expected.

We welcome this positive step.

In the May elections we promised extra police officers for Wandsworth. The Council is now proposing funding for 24 additional new officers in Wandsworth.

Resident safety is paramount and we are please the process to deliver on that promise has kicked off.

The council website says: “[they are] proposing to fund additional police officers in the borough as part of a major investment in community safety, responding directly to the issues residents raise most often about crime, anti-social behaviour and feeling safe in their neighbourhoods.”

Residents across Wandsworth are set to benefit from more visible neighbourhood policing, increased patrols and great action on anti-social behaviour under new plans.

The previous Council administration ruined Wandsworth finances.

Wandsworth Council faces a financial crisis. If no action is taken, our local share of Council Tax will need to increase by 230%.

The new administration is undertaking a comprehensive spending review, assessing the difficult choices necessary to reduce the gap.

The outcomes will be announced at the Full Council meeting on 22 July.

Aled Richards-Jones has announced that he will step down as Conservative Group Leader and Leader of Wandsworth Council once a successor is appointed at the next Council meeting on 22 July.
