Learn English at Home - LEAH The majority of our work is delivered by our dedicated volunteers who are the lifeline of the organisation, and without whom we could not exist.

We help residents of Hounslow, Kingston, Merton and Richmond who have low levels of English but cannot attend college by offering them free English lessons, and helping them to become more involved in their local communities. Learn English at Home is a local and independent registered charity, supporting residents of Kingston and Richmond from ethnic minority backgrounds, who have English as a second language. We help and support our clients to attain the level of English needed to communicate their everyday needs and empower them to become more confident and independent. Our services are delivered across Kingston and Richmond and we offer the following: 1:1 Home Tuition, Community Classes, English for Health, Trips & Social Activities, Signposting

We work collaboratively with a wide range of other local agencies to take referrals, signpost to other services, and identify opportunities for progression.

🌿☀️ What a summer it’s been! ☀️🌿

Our Summer Wellbeing Programme brought learners, volunteers and children together for nine weeks of friendship, creativity, nature, movement and new experiences. 💙

From Kew Gardens and Ham House to art, yoga, poetry, riverside walks and our final celebration, it’s been a wonderful summer of connection, confidence and community.

We’ve made memories, discovered new places and built friendships along the way - and we couldn’t be prouder of everything our learners have achieved. 🧡💛💚

🌿✨A morning of wellbeing, culture and conversation in Richmond✨🌿

On Tuesday 25 August, a happy group of 12 adults, six children and one very cute dog 🐶 enjoyed a wonderful walk along Richmond Riverside - the penultimate session of our Summer Wellbeing Programme.

Led by our brilliant volunteer Sharon, who is a former tour guide with a wealth of local history knowledge, the group explored some of Richmond’s beautiful riverside landmarks.

We crossed Richmond Bridge, stopped at Marble Hill House to learn about Henrietta Howard and the fascinating history of the house, before continuing on to the playground for some refreshments and playtime. We then visited Orleans House Gallery and explored its exhibitions together. 🎨🏛️

It was a lovely opportunity to get outdoors, practise English, discover more about the local area and spend time together in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

A huge thank you to Sharon for expertly leading the walk, and to everyone who joined us and made it such a lively and enjoyable morning! 💙💛💚🧡

🌿 There's still time to join our Summer Wellbeing Programme! 💙💛💚🧡

Our Summer Wellbeing Programme has already been filled with wonderful moments of connection, creativity and discovery – from art workshops and visits to local attractions to spending time together in nature.

One recent highlight was a calming morning with Dose of Nature, where our learners had the chance to slow down, connect with the natural world and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of being outdoors together. Experiences like these help build confidence, encourage conversation and remind us of the positive impact that nature can have on our wellbeing.

There are still spaces available for the remaining sessions, including:

🎨🌿 Creativity, connection and confidence at Week 3 of our Summer Wellbeing Programme! 💙💛💚🧡

This week, our learners took part in a wonderful art workshop, enjoying the opportunity to express themselves, get creative and connect with others in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The feedback we've received so far has been incredibly heartwarming:

💬 "I am so happy I am here. I always [am] on my own at home... and now I'm here with you and I am so, so happy."

💬 "It's really good to join this group and talk to people... I'm quite shy so I don't start conversations with people I don't know."

💬 "Last week's workshop was my first session, and I really enjoyed it. It was a wonderful experience."

These moments remind us how important community, friendship and connection are.
