The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK Branch (CPA UK) provides opportunities for UK parliamentarians to liaise with fellow parliamentarians across the Commonwealth. Today CPA UK, education and Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support the upcoming UK-India New Parliamentarians Exchange pilot programme, which will forge closer ties between parliamentarians in both countries. Signed on the same day the UK-India Free Trade Agreement comes into force, the Memorandum marks the beginning of a new generation of parliamentarians from the UK and India working together. 🇬🇧🇮🇳

Last week CPA UK hosted a Caribbean AI workshop alongside the Anguilla House of Assembly, the Anguilla Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities, Housing, Information, Technology and E Government Services and Unesco Caribbean. Over 4 days delegates discussed addressed a wide range of topics, including the application of AI in parliamentary work, cybersecurity risks and regional and international cooperation on AI adoption and regulation. The programme also emphasised how small island states have the opportunity to move fast and realise the benefits of digital transformation across society, while managing the risks these disruptive technologies pose.

A warm welcome to everyone who's at our 74th Westminster Seminar which started this morning! It's also so before we got going Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons led a celebration of the modern Commonwealth and spoke about the importance of working together to 'unlock opportunities for a prosperous Commonwealth.'
