Today, young people based around Merseyside are challenging themselves and developing new skills, like sailing, boating and rock climbing - support

ed by qualified volunteers. Our biggest supporter is the Royal Navy, plus we receive corporate support from the commercial Maritime sector.

360 modules ticked off across 24 Cadets. ✅

24 New Young Leaders across Merseyside West District. 🌟

Countless exciting memories made. 🔥

New friendships formed. 🤝

New experiences and challenges taken on. 🏹

New skills learnt. 💪

But perhaps most importantly, this camp has given us a new vision for the future of Junior Sea Cadets across Merseyside West District.

What started as an idea has turned into four days packed with adventure, learning, leadership, friendship and fun, and we hope this is just the beginning.

A huge thank you to every Cadet who threw themselves into the camp, and to every member of staff who gave their time, energy and support to make it happen.

🌅 Day 4 - The Final Day!

The sun is up over Hadlow Fields and we’re into the final day of Junior Summer Camp! 🏕️

This morning our Juniors will be finishing off their Young Leaders Award, before putting everything they’ve learnt into practice.

Today, the Cadets are in charge! 🏆

They’ll be hosting their very own Sports Day, taking on the responsibility of organising activities, leading others and working as a team - using the leadership skills they’ve developed throughout the camp.

We’re really looking forward to stepping back and seeing how our Cadets do. It’s their chance to show us just how much they’ve learnt over the last few days! 💙

And then, sadly, it’s time to say goodbye…

🌅 Day 3 - What a Day!

That’s a wrap on Day 3 of Junior Summer Camp! 🏕️

Today our 24 Juniors have been working through the Young Leaders Award, taking on challenges, developing new skills and learning what it means to take responsibility and lead others. 🌟

They’ve also been busy planning their very own Sports Day for tomorrow, with the Cadets taking charge and putting their new leadership skills into practice. 🏃‍♂️🏆

This camp has been a very special one for us. It is something we’ve worked hard to create, and we genuinely hope this is something we can continue and build on with more Junior Summer Camps in the future.

We’ve also taken the opportunity to hold a Junior Sea Cadet Voice during camp, giving our Juniors the chance to tell us what they think, what they’ve enjoyed, what they would change and what they’d like to see in future camps.

After all, they’re the ones this camp is for, so their feedback matters the most. 💙

As we head into our final day, there are still plenty of certificates, badges and achievements to celebrate. 🏅🎖️

We look forward to welcoming all parents and carers from 3:30pm tomorrow for our presentations and announcements, where we’ll celebrate everything our Juniors have achieved over the last few days.

Merseyside West District Summer Camp 2026

What an action packed week it’s been for our cadets and volunteers! Here are just some of our photos capturing the many activities and experiences our cadets have enjoyed throughout the week.

From drill and engineering to catering, sailing and Peer Educator training, it’s been a busy programme with every cadet achieving qualifications and completing modules towards their rank progression.

A fantastic week of learning new skills and developing existing skills in different environments, building confidence, working as a team and making some brilliant memories along the way.

If you look carefully through the photos, you will even spot Cdr Wellington RN, North West Area Officer, getting stuck in and joining our cadets during the engineering session!

Merseyside West Summer Camp 2026 – Post 2 of 2

The experiences didn’t stop there! During the week, our cadets also spent time with the Royal Navy Engagement Team, getting stuck into a range of practical leadership tasks and teamwork challenges.

These activities gave our cadets the chance to put their communication, problem solving and leadership skills into practice, working together to overcome each challenge.

It was also a brilliant opportunity to speak directly with serving Royal Navy personnel, hear about their first hand experiences of life in the Royal Navy and find out more about the huge variety of careers and opportunities available.

After an action packed week, we finished Summer Camp with our traditional visit to Edinburgh City.

Our cadets had the opportunity to explore the city, take in the sights and enjoy some well earned time together. The Edinburgh visit is always a highlight of Summer Camp and a fantastic way to round off an incredible week.

From developing new skills and achieving qualifications to taking on challenges, meeting serving personnel and making memories with friends. Summer Camp 2026 has certainly been one to remember!

🌅 Day 3 - The Young Leaders Journey Begins!

Another morning has arrived at Hadlow Fields, and after a busy day of adventure yesterday, our 24 Juniors are up, dressed and ready for breakfast! 🏕️

Today marks a really exciting part of camp as our Juniors begin their Young Leaders journey. 🌟

Over the course of the day they’ll be taking on new challenges, learning new skills, working together and developing the confidence and leadership skills that come with the award.

There’ll be plenty more fun, laughter and adventure along the way, and we’re excited to see what they achieve!

🌅 The Sun Has Set Over Hadlow Fields…

And what a day it has been!

Day 2 of the Merseyside West District Junior Summer Camp is officially done. 🏕️🔥

Our 24 Juniors have packed a serious amount into today, practising their aim at archery, building dens, tackling the scavenger hunt, visiting a local historical railway station and, when the weather warmed up, getting absolutely soaked in a water fight! 💦😂

Then it was back to camp for a well-earned BBQ, followed by music, dancing and plenty of laughs. 🎶🍔

It’s been a day full of teamwork, new experiences, competition and, most importantly, having fun together.

Now the sun has set, the camp has gone quiet and everyone is hopefully getting some well-earned rest.

🌅 Day 2 at Junior Summer Camp

The sun has risen over Hadlow Fields, and after successfully making it through our first night, the camp is officially underway! 🔥🏕️

Yesterday 24 Juniors arrived, got settled in, made new friends and began their adventure, and today we’ve got a big day ahead.

🏹 Archery
🌳 Den Building
🗺️ Scavenger Hunt
🚂 Visit to a local historical railway station
🍔 BBQ
🎶 Music & Dancing

There’s plenty to get stuck into, plenty of challenges to take on and, hopefully, plenty of laughs along the way.

By the end of today, we expect there’ll be a few tired Juniors, some very competitive scavenger hunters, some questionable den-building skills and probably a lot of food missing from the BBQ! 😂

One night down. Three more days of adventure to go.

One More Sleep… 🔥🏕️🏹

Tomorrow marks the start of something special.

After months of planning, countless emails, equipment checks, risk assessments and shopping lists, we’re finally ready to welcome our Junior Cadets to the Merseyside West District Junior Summer Camp at Hadlow Fields

Over the next four days they’ll be building friendships, sitting around campfires, enjoying BBQ’s, testing their aim at archery, taking on outdoor challenges, and working towards their Young Leaders Award and Green modules.

For many, it’ll be their first time away at a longer camp. By Monday they’ll head home with muddy shoes, tired eyes, plenty of stories to tell, and memories that will last for years.

At the end of the camp we hope to share more than just photos to remember it by!😉

To all our Junior Cadets…

Get a good night’s sleep (if you can!), double check your kit, and get ready for an unforgettable adventure.
