Unison LGBT+ London

Unison LGBT+ London UNISON Greater London Region supports the fight for le***an, gay bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) equality. Please encourage people to like/ contribute

UNISON is Britain's biggest trade union with more than 1.3 million members. Our members are people working in the public services, for private contractors providing public services and in the essential utilities. UNISON recognises the importance of its LGBT members and its responsibility for paying particular attention to our needs: that LGBT rights are trade union issues. UNISON's commitment to e

quality and to tackling discrimination is written into the union's rules. UNISON's support for LGBT rights has not come out of thin air. It is the consequence of many years of work and lobbying by our activists. Members meet as a self-organised group at branch, regional and national level.

Le***an Visibility Week (April 20-26, 2026) is an annual international movement that celebrates le***ans, q***r women, and nonbinary individuals. Founded in 2020 by Linda Riley (DIVA Charitable Trust), LVW works to ensure le***ans’ lives, culture, and communities are visible across public, social, and cultural spaces. Le***an Visibility Week centers community connection and diverse leadership. Le***an Visibility Week is powered by The Curve Foundation in North America.

Why it Matters

Le***ans face persistent erasure in media and culture, misrepresentation and stereotypes, and a lack of spaces specifically celebrating q***r women. Visibility boosts belonging and safety.

Who We Mean When We Say "Le***an"
LVW is inclusive: our umbrella covers many identities, including le***ans, q***r women, bi women, trans women, nonbinary folks, and those connected to le***an culture.

Visibility strengthens all of us. You don’t have to identify as a le***an to uplift those who do.

TDOV was founded in 2009 by transgender activist Rachel Crandal as a day dedicated to celebrating and uplifting the visibility and achievements of transgender individuals.

Fighting HIV Stigma and Proud: March, Vigil and Rally

Thousands will take to the streets to march against stigma on Saturday 18 March. Because nothing was achieved in the fight against HIV without people power.

This march, vigil and rally is a collaboration of over 20 organisations dedicated to ending HIV stigma. Everyone is welcome — whether you have been on many demos or this is your first, please come along. Feel free to bring your friends.

HIV has changed — but the stigma surrounding the virus hasn't. Registering helps us to better predict numbers and plan.

Co-Chairs Anu and Terry invite you to come along and join them for our first in person LGBT+ History Month event since 2020. As well as a chance to connect with other members of the UNISON London LGBT+ family over a glass or two and some nibbles, there will be an opportunity to explore the museum itself.

With a couple of special guests joining, this event is the must do reception for LGBT+ History Month and we are really looking forward to seeing you all there.

Capacity is limited so please ensure you register yourself and any guest as soon as possible, and let us know of any dietary requirements you may have

Today is IDAHOBIT, or International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

Founded in 2004, this aims to raise awareness of violence and discrimination against LGBTQ+ people to drive positive change, and is now celebrated in more than 130 countries around the world.

IDAHOBIT reminds us that there is still a long way to go until all LGBTQ+ people are free and safe from harm. Here are some reasons why it is still needed in 2022, and ways you can help:
