This is Emanuel Gomes, a worker and a UVW union member.

Five years ago today, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a global public health emergency.

For many workers without access to full pay sick pay, that moment exposed a brutal reality: go to work sick — or lose your income.

This is the choice Emanuel was forced to face, and he paid the ultimate price.

The Emanuel Gomes Organising School (EGOS) exists so no worker is ever put in that position again.

🔥 EGOS returns in 2026 — a 6-week, hands-on organising school, building real worker power in the hotel sector.

📣‼️This is an urgent call to ensure that indigenous peoples are present at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), Glasgow Scotland, October 28 - November 14, 2021.

Your solidarity will help cover the arrival and participation of more than 100 indigenous delegates travelling voluntarily to Glasgow from their territories far away to make their voices heard so that humanity and governments make urgent and necessary commitments to stop the climate crisis and ensure the continuity of the future of us all.
