The Safety Box

The Safety Box Awakening the creative potential of young people and keeping them safe. This helps us to modify change and constantly deliver excellent training for our pupils.

The Safety Box has many different aspects and aims to help pupils and offenders reach above and beyond through a wide range of interpersonal courses and programs to reduce violence. The Safety Box programmes have been developed in conjunction with a wide range of partners, teachers, youth workers and children with the aim of delivering high quality learning vehicles for youth development. We inter

viewed and conducted research with 250 young people in London and surrounding areas to find out what they wanted included in their curriculum and how we could help them achieve excellence in their life and fulfil their dreams. We continually evaluate all of our work with young people and to this date (2011) have collected 6000 feedback forms from the young people we have worked with across the South East of England. Our programs are a refined system of training and development in helping young people develop important skills such as leadership, communication, team working, presentation, conflict resolution and problem solving. We recognise that these are some of the essential keys to success. They open doors to learning, to life in addition to work. They are a platform on which to build employability skills and the gateway to future well-being and prosperity. Education is the single most important goal for any child or young adult. To focus on studying, students need to be able to feel safe in their schools and neighbourhood. Our tailor made programs are specifically designed to fit into schools and can be used as a vital part of Citizenship, Functional Skills, PSHE and Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS) curriculum. Working together in partnership with the community youth organisations and schools our aim is to raise levels of achievement, attainment and respect. Through our enrichment lessons we aim to fulfill the criteria set out in the ECM initiative by promoting healthy living, giving pupils the necessary tools to stay safe and equip them ideas in which they can make a positive contribution to society. We offer a number of different curriculum and extra-curriculum programs for ages 5 - 21:

• PSHE
• PLTS
• Citizenship
• Functional Skills
• Enrichment
• Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
• Anti-Social behaviour & Anger Management
• Anti-Knife Crime
• Knife, Gun and Gang intervention
• Parent Intervention
• Performing Arts
• Enrichment
• Careers and Motivation
• Mentorship

• Youth Sport
• Youth Group Programs and Extended services
• Martial Arts
• Activity Days
• Personal Safety
• Anti-Bullying
• Internet Safety
• African-Caribbean Education for Schools (ACES)
• INSET Teachers Training

We recognise that many of the problems associated with young people stem from several sources we therefore work specifically with schools to deliver multi-level intervention, working with:

• Parents

• Teachers
• and pupils

When knife crime is brought up, we often hear discussions that can hover around the surface: statistics, surveillance and strong wording. However, Knife Crime Awareness Week seeks to shift the narrative from just focusing on the intial actions, to looking deeper, to the root of the issue, to mindsets, and to lived experiences.

The work that is done by the Ben Kinsella Trust, The Safety Box, and countless of other organisations and policing initiatives holds this belief at its core. Just staying on the surface is not enough. The surface only attempts to seek a cure. This week offers to prevent the cause altogether.

If you haven't done so already, use the hashtag and help us to start having conversations that heal the wounds of our communities, not just cover them.

Take the pledge and help us save lives.

In the UK, over 1 in 4 women are expected to be at risk of assault in their lifetime, and just last year, over 900,000 women were stalked or harassed in England and Wales. It's a worrying and terrifying time to be living in as a woman or a girl. The stakes are high, and it seems like personal power is being stripped away. Which is why we at The Safety Box are helping you reclaim your strength.

On the 5th of July, we will be holding our Women and Girls Personal Protection and Self Defence Training programme. It is a comprehensive session compiled with information, advice and practical skills on how to keep yourself safe in everyday life. This will include:

- Our fully trained team guiding you though the programme step by step
- Easy and memorable physical exercises to ward off danger
- Informative snippets that will teach you about the psychology behind how the brain works in adrenaline-raised scenarios

Our goal is to equip you with the confidence, skills and mindset to take charge in any situation you find yourself in. This is a chance to take back your power.

If you want to sign up, and take the first steps into protecting yourself, head to the link in our bio, or comment "SELF DEFENCE" below, and we'll send you the sign up link.

5th of July, 1:30-5:30 pm, save the date and get ready to take back your power with us🔥

This week is Knife Crime Awareness Week and along with The Ben Kinsella Trust, and multiple other organisations, we're pledging to keep conversations about youth violence at the forefront. Knife crime affects young people, families, and entire communities, and raising awareness is an important step toward prevention, education, and positive change.

Our shared mission is to shift the narrative around youth violence by focusing on empowerment, opportunity, and early intervention. Through our work, The Safety Box and the Ben Kinsella Trust are joining forces to educate, inspire, and support young people, helping them understand the impact of knife crime while giving them the tools, confidence, and guidance to make safer choices.

Together, we are committed to raising awareness, challenging harmful stereotypes, and creating safer communities where young people feel heard, valued, and supported.

Safeguarding women and girls is a priority. Violence against women and girls is something we must continue working to eradicate, and gender-based violence remains a serious issue that affects too many lives.

At The Safety Box, we are committed to helping individuals stay safe, avoid dangerous situations, and protect themselves from violence and domestic abuse. It is important that women and girls are equipped with practical tools, awareness, and confidence to recognise risk and respond safely.

The Safety Box runs a number of community-based programmes designed to safeguard individuals. Our Women and Girls Self-Defence Programme is a practical and empowering workshop that teaches participants how to avoid dangerous scenarios and respond effectively in challenging situations.

Our next programme will take place at the end of June and costs just £80 per person. This dynamic 3.5-hour workshop provides an introduction to self-defence, personal safety, and practical strategies for staying safe.

We have been working on the front line for years with young people who are at risk, and we do this work because we believe in them. We believe in their power, their purpose, and their limitless potential.

Our mission is to empower them, guide them away from negativity, and help them rise above negative behaviours that do not define who they are or who they can become. Every young person deserves the chance to see a better future, believe in themselves, and understand that greatness is already within them.

Working on the front line has shown us one powerful truth: our young people do not lack potential. They need love, guidance, opportunity, and people who refuse to give up on them.

This work is not about likes, attention, or approval. It is about love. It is about inspiration. It is about standing against the negativity in society and giving our young people hope, direction, and the confidence to dream bigger.

We must become stronger, wiser, and more united so we can give them something better for tomorrow. When we invest in our young people today, we build a brighter, mightier future for everyone.

🚨 Stay Safe. Stay Smart. 🚨

County Lines gangs are targeting young people don’t get caught up.

👉 They may offer money, clothes, or “easy opportunities”
👉 They may pressure or threaten you
👉 They may ask you to carry drugs, money, or weapons

⚠️ This is exploitation@and it can put you in serious danger.

📊 In 2025:
• 2,700+ drug lines shut down
• 1,600+ gang leaders charged
• 900+ knives taken off the streets

👊 Police are cracking down—but staying safe starts with YOU.

🛑 Protect yourself:
• Don’t carry anything for anyone
• Avoid people offering quick money
• Talk to someone you trust if something feels off

📞 Need help?
Speak to a trusted adult or call 999 in an emergency

💬 You deserve better than gang life. Choose your future.

Week two of our Easter Holiday Hope Programme is in full swing, proudly funded by the London Violence Reduction Unit. . We’re creating a safe, supportive space where young people can engage, grow, and thrive.

From beauty sessions and creative arts to games, dance, self-defence, and creative writing workshops, we’ve built a diverse programme designed to inspire, empower, and open new opportunities. Alongside these activities, we’re also providing meals because we know that access to food is essential for young people to fully participate and succeed.

While we haven’t shared much online over the past two weeks, the work has not stopped. Behind the scenes, we’ve been fully engaged delivering tailored one-to-one support for ex-offenders, running self-defence programmes, and continuing our Holiday Hope activities with energy and commitment.

The Safety Box is active, the team is working hard, and the impact is real. This is what community support looks like.
