There have been many misrepresentations of Green Party immigration policy, particularly when it comes to asylum seekers. How many critics with strong opinions have actually read our manifesto?

Our policy is:
โข to treat asylum seekers with respect and dignity while deciding whether to approve their application
โข allow asylum seekers to work while their application is being processed rather than relying on a tiny stipend of ยฃ49.18 a week
โข offer safe routes to sanctuary, which would include allowing those in need of asylum to apply from their current location.
The last policy alone would be transformative, as under the current law, the people desperately in need of safety from persecution often have to sell all their assets in order to pay people-traffickers thousands of pounds to get them onto UK soil before they can apply for asylum.
The Green Party is seeking to solve problems. Reform is seeking to pour fuel on the fire.
