"Another Palestinian neighborhood in Jerusalem is in Israel’s crosshairs after the Israeli government reopened a 58-year-old decision to seize the strategic street of Bab al-Silsila in the Old City of Jerusalem, which is adjacent to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Many of the properties slated for seizure are centuries old, dating back to the Ottoman, Mamluk, and Ayyubite periods."

Israel is reviving an obscure 1968 government order to unilaterally seize some 50 properties directly adjacent to the al-Aqsa Mosque compound. Residents say the move is an effort to remove Palestinians and to complete the Judaization of Jerusalem.

DEMOLITION UPDATES: in recent days, as people celebrated Eid al-Adha, Israeli authorities served dozens of demolition orders and verified self-demolitions were carried out in Bedouin villages in the Naqab desert

On Wednesday, morning of the holiday in Wadi an-Na'am village, demolition orders were distributed and Israeli inspectors verified residents carried out self-demolitions.

On Thursday, large Israeli forces accompanied by bulldozers arrived at Kaser al-Ser village and the Abu Sabile neighborhood in the Abu Tlul village to verify that the six houses that were self-demolished by their owners were "properly" demolished. They left behind signs placed amid the rubble, stating that "Entry to the area is forbidden" in the heart of a residential area in which thousands reside.

Atta's Struggle to Remain Sumud

ICAHD first got to know Atta Jaber and his family in 1997 and since then we have remained in solidarity with this family. We have stood with them when experiencing two home demolitions, the destruction of their water cisterns, episodes of settler violence, confiscation of land and more. Many of our study tours for internationals have visited the family and been fed by Atta’s wife and daughters. The Al-Jazeera film, Sumud – Rooted in the West Bank, tells the story of gentle Atta and how he refuses to hate.

This article provides an overview of Atta’s history of remaining sumud (steadfast) on his land.

Many of you know Atta Jaber, his wife Rudeina and their children. Atta is a Palestinian farmer whose extended family has lived in the Baqa’a Valley near Hebron for centuries. In this, one of the most fertile areas of Palestine, the Jaber lands were filled with vineyards, fruit orchards and small f...

On 25 March 2026, personnel from the Jerusalem municipality along with Israeli forces demolished two inhabited houses and a horse stable, for lacking a building permit in Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, East Jerusalem. As a result, two households comprising nine people including three children were forcibly displaced, and a household comprising six people including four children was affected.

The demolition also targeted a small resting room that included a small bedroom, kitchen, and a bathroom. In addition, walls around the structures and a number of trees were destroyed during the demolition alongside some furniture and personal belongings that were inside the houses.

Watch ICAHD's recent webinars - 'Solidarity in the Face of Genocide' and 'Life and Displacement in East Jerusalem'

'Life and Displacement in East Jerusalem'
This webinar was held on Jerusalem Day, a date when Israeli flag-waving Zionists flood into Jerusalem’s Old City to commemorate the “reunification” with East Jerusalem. It is a day that involves frightening intimidation and violence towards Palestinians. It was also the eve of Nakba Day when we remember the 750,000 Palestinians who were made refugees, and that the Nakba continues.

Our featured speakers were Fakhri Abu Diab who said that 52% of his neighbourhood has already been demolished and the rest is scheduled for demolition by October 2026.

Moneer Marjeieh’s maps and charts informed us of the alarming rate that Israelis authorities are establishing facts on the ground as Palestinians are pushed out of Jerusalem and Israeli illegal settlers are pulled in.

ICAHD USA Webinar -'Solidarity in the Face of Genocide'
Michael Spath, Co-Coordinator of ICAHD USA and Executive Director of the Indiana Center for Middle East Peace, moderated a discussion between ICAHD’s Jeff Halper and Palestinian Sami Awad, Co-Director of Nonviolence International.

Sami spoke from his home in Bethlehem. He called for Palestinians to be proactive with vision, leadership and a strategy but right now all are missing because they are just in survival mode. But he’s encouraged because he sees Zionism being dismantled in the States.

Jeff said that there are two parallel struggles. One is for Palestinian liberation led by the Palestinians. The other struggle is for do-colonization and that includes Israeli participation.

Khan al-Ahmar - Stop imminent forced displacement

Calling all ICAHD supporters to respond immediately

Write to your MP Prepare a letter and request that it is sent to The Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP, Foreign Secretary, urging her to respond the proposal by Bezalel Smotrich, Israeli Finance Minister, to evacuate the well-known Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar, east of Jerusalem, which will forcibly displace its 300 residents. Khan al-Ahmar has been under threat for many years, and some demolitions have already happened. Smotrich made this announcement on 19th May after news reached him that an arrest warrant had been logged against him by the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Smotrich said that this amounts to a “declaration of war” and he would “fight back with a vengeance” with immediate retaliation against Palestinians.

A total of 26 Bedouin communities from the Jahalin tribe near occupied East Jerusalem are under threat as Israel illegally annexes and clears Area C to construct more Israeli settlements. These are violations of the 4th Geneva Convention and illustrate Israel’s apartheid policies regarding the Palestinian population. Our government must address this as a matter of urgency and hold Israel accountable for these actions. A start would be to stop all trade with Israel because words of condemnation are not enough.

DEMOLITION UPDATES: 200 members of the Al-Nabari family are facing imminent displacement in the Naqab desert

The photo above is from Tel Arad yesterday morning. Israeli authorities are planning to demolish the homes of about 40 families from the Al-Nabari tribe, numbering about 200 civilians, starting in two weeks. The families received pre-demolition notices for June 7-17, by which time they are required to carry out self-demolitions. According to Rashid Al-Nabari, a teacher by profession and one of the residents' representatives, the notices do not take into account that the development of Marwa, the planned Bedouin village in the eastern part of Tel Arad, has not yet begun. Therefore, even if the demolitions take place, the residents will not go anywhere, but will remain living in difficult conditions among the rubble of houses, the animal pens and flowering gardens scattered throughout the neighborhood and which are also expected to be destroyed.

Rashid: "My father was born in Tel Arad in 1952 (the year the Israeli state moved the family to the place from its lands in the Lakia area), I was born there in 1979, my children have been born one after the other since 2007, and now, after all these generations, the state, the only democracy in the Middle East, suddenly remembers that we 'invaded' state lands, so to speak. After 75 years".

DEMOLITION UPDATES: In the past week alone Israeli forces forcibly displaced 24 Palestinians, tearing down residential tents, destroying their contents including food supplies and confiscating plastic sheets sheltering the animals

On 18 May 2026. a Palestinian family was forced to self-demolish their home in Ras Al Amud, East Jerusalem, citing the lack of an Israeli-issued building permit. As a result, a family of five were forcibly displaced. According to the affected, the house received a demolition order in 2023; they appointed a lawyer to follow up on the case but were rejected, and received a final demolition order demanding the family self-demolishes or otherwise will be fined the costs of demolition.

On 19 May 2026, the Israeli Civil Administration accompanied by Israeli forces demolished five livelihood structures and two houses in Area C of Al Khalayleh community, located on the East Jerusalem side of the Separation Wall in Jerusalem, citing the lack of Israeli-issued building permits. The demolition affected four Palestinian households comprising 22 people, including nine children, and resulted in the destruction of their main sources of livelihood. The demolished structures included a car wash facility, a vehicle maintenance garage, two workers’ living spaces, a stone-cutting workshop, and an asphalt parking area used for livelihood purposes. In addition, Israeli forces demolished two apartments that were used as secondary residences. According to the affected families, all of the targeted structures had received stop-work orders several years ago and were undergoing legal follow-up procedures. The families reported that the demolition was carried out without the exhaustion of all legal remedies and without the issuance of final demolition orders or prior notice.

On 20 May 2026, Israeli Civil Administration accompanied by Israeli forces demolished 16 structures, including 11 donor-funded structures, in Area C of Ein al Hilwa community in Tubas, citing a lack of Israeli-issued building permits. As a result, four Palestinian households comprising 19 people, including nine children were forcibly displaced. The demolished structures included four inhabited houses: three tents constructed with metal poles and arches and covered with plastic sheets, and one structure built with cement-block walls and roofed with metal sheets. In addition, the demolition targeted one kitchenette made of wooden and metal poles covered with plastic sheets, three animal shelters constructed with metal poles and arches and covered with plastic sheets, four mobile latrines, and four solar panels. According to the affected families, the demolition completely destroyed the contents of the residential structures, with the families losing most of their personal belongings and basic household supplies, including food supplies, furniture, and clothing, leaving them in a highly vulnerable situation. The displaced families stated that they had previously received demolition orders and had appointed a lawyer to pursue the case in the Israeli courts.

The Guardian "More than 57 homes in al-Bustan, part of the larger Silwan district of East Jerusalem, have been demolished in the past two years with at least eight designated for demolition in the next few weeks. On the site a biblical theme park called the Kings Garden is to be built, supposedly where King Solomon took his leisure three millennia ago."

Residents of al-Bustan district told to make way for Kings Garden, with knocking down own houses cheaper option
