*THE ZANU PF United Kingdom District has added its voice to growing calls for the upcoming 23rd Annual National People’s Conference to adopt a resolution to harmonise the Party Constitution with the country’s supreme law and synchronise President Mnangagwa’s tenure with national timelines to 2030.*

The 23rd National People’s Conference is scheduled to take place from October 12 to October 17 at the Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) in Mashonaland West Province under the theme: “From Resolutions to Results: Consolidating Economic Development and Deepening Empowerment Towards Vision 2030”.

_UK District chairperson Cde Xavier Zavare said the synchronisation of terms at national and institutional levels are crucial to enable efficiency and stability in governance at macro and micro levels following last month’s enactment of the Constitution Amendment (No. 3) Act (CAA3)._

He said the August 23 resolutions also recommended extending, after President Mnangagwa’s Party portfolio, the leadership positions of other structures from the cell level. *“Our meeting here resolved to endorse an extension of the President and First Secretary Cde Mnangagwa’s tenure to continue leading the party in line with the CAA3, which extended his tenure in office to 2030 and the tenure of those in the National Assembly, Senate and Local Councils.*

“ _Additionally, we have also resolved that the tenure of all the Party’s structures that are currently in place be extended so that the foot soldiers that stood with the Revolutionary Party to win the election and supported and campaigned for CAA3 to be a success, continually occupy positions until 2030,” Cde Zavare said._

The position by the UK District to extend President Mnangagwa’s tenure adds weight to similar calls that have been made across Zimbabwe by all structures, fortified by the developmental trajectory the country has taken under his Second Republic leadership.

Other proposals recommended by the UK District include adopting a motion at the conference “to give the Diaspora membership representation in the Central Committee of the Party” and have the Party use its supremacy to set up a Diaspora government ministry or department.

“Observing that Zimbabwe’s diaspora population is growing both in number and contribution towards our country’s economic development aligned to Vision 2030, remitting nearly $3 billion, approximately 20 percent of foreign currency inflows into our country, we propose that the Party use its supremacy by adopting a resolution which encourages President Mnangagwa to set up a Diaspora government ministry or department with a mandate to harness the full potential of the diaspora population which goes beyond remittances,” reads the resolution.

ZIMBABWEAN youths in the Diaspora should make legitimate business investments to strengthen their position as productive participants in Government’s Vision 2030 agenda, Zanu PF United Kingdom District secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Farai Nyakudya has said.

Young Zimbabweans in the Diaspora, he said, should use their skills, networks, resources and international experience not only to build their own future, but also contribute to the country’s development.

In an interview yesterday, Cde Nyakudya said it was the responsibility of young people to help build a practical bridge between Zimbabweans in the Diaspora and the economic opportunities being created through the country’s development agenda.

“It is important for youth in Diaspora to use their skills, networks, resources and international experience to build their futures while also contributing to Zimbabwe’s development. That way, it will help them explore and invest in legitimate Government-supported initiatives through the appropriate official channels.

“Zimbabwe has set itself a clear national destination through Vision 2030, the foundation of an empowered, prosperous and modernised society in which citizens are expected to participate meaningfully in economic development. Young people cannot be spectators of that vision,” Cde Nyakudya said.

The Government, through the National Youth Development Strategy 2026–2030, is placing emphasis on youth entrepreneurship, income-generating projects, skills development, business incubation, access to finance, partnerships, digital resources, market access and the formalisation and growth of youth-owned enterprises.

Cde Nyakudya praised President Mnangagwa for placing youth empowerment, skills development, entrepreneurship and economic participation firmly within the national development agenda.
“The President’s broader Vision 2030 agenda requires young Zimbabweans to become productive participants in the transformation of the country. The responsibility now is to ensure that young people have the tools, information and platforms to participate.

“As diaspora youth, we welcome that direction. But our role is to ensure that the opportunities being created in Zimbabwe reach young Zimbabweans wherever they are,” Cde Nyakudya added.

There is a foul stench wafting through Zimbabwe’s civic corridors, a nauseating rot born from the delusion that political involvement is a personal business model. Well I am the last person anyone expected to write this because every day I’m asked, 'Rozvi, you’ve been in this political path for so long, what do you have to show for it?' Well, I have my revolutionary pride and my principles. To me, that means more than any fleet of Aquas or Mercedes-Benzes. Across digital spaces and backroom caucuses, a parasitic breed of political entrepreneurs has emerged. To them, allegiance is an invoice, loyalty is a venture capital investment, and public office is a corporate exit strategy. Nothing exposes this decay quite like the bizarre phenomenon of online rankings among some allegedly ZANU-PF cadres competing for the title of "Ultimate Lacoste Loyalist."

Scroll through social media on any given day, and you will find self-styled political operatives drafting hierarchical lists of who did what during the November 2017 transition. With jaw-dropping audacity, these digital cadres present their tweets, press briefings, and factional maneuvering as heroic sacrifices that the state must now settle in cash or perhaps farms, luxury vehicles, and cabinet appointments. To these political mercenaries, sitting in a comfortable armchair tweeting in late 2017 was a high-stakes combat operation. They hold up a few weeks of factional intrigue as a lifelong debt owed to them by the taxpayers of Zimbabwe. This entitlement is not just laughable; it is a grotesque insult to the foundational history of the nation.
How dare anyone demand a payout for typing slogans in 2017 when the actual architects of Zimbabwean sovereignty sit quietly in rural dust? Walk through the villages of Buhera, Mt. Darwin, Chiredzi, or Mukumbura. There, you will find genuine revolutionary freedom fighters,men and women who entered the bush as teenagers and spent years sleeping in trenches while hunted by Rhodesia's military apparatus. They came back with shrapnel still embedded in their limbs, blinded, maimed, and bearing psychological scars that no compensation check could ever heal. They marched into battle without a promise of a farm, a Mercedes-Benz, or a government contract; they fought because freedom was an existential imperative, not a transaction.
While a fortunate minority of war veterans translated their sacrifice into post-independence political and economic elitism, the vast majority returned to humble homesteads and subsistence farming. They do not draft ranking lists on Twitter demanding kickbacks for saving the nation. Their dignity lies in their silent, selfless sacrifice. Contrast this with the modern clout-chaser who spent two weeks in a comfortable suburban home during a political shift, yet stands up just a few years later demanding recognition of financial nature or cabinet seats and tenders. It is the absolute height of moral bankruptcy.

This entitlement culture did not grow in a vacuum; it was systematically cultivated by an apparatus that publicly rewards noise over substance. When you bestow public accolades, platforms, and influence on theatrical loudmouths like Rutendo Matinyarare and a fleet of online cheerleaders, they send a toxic signal to the entire political ecosystem;volume brings visibility, and visibility brings wealth. So by glorifying vocal cheerleaders whose primary skill is aggressive public defense, the political machinery creates a farm system for mercenaries rather than patriots. Patriots serve quietly, build institutions, solve community problems, and expect nothing in return beyond a functioning nation. Mercenaries calculate the ROI on every tweet, rally, and endorsement, waiting eagerly for the day their invoice gets honored by the state treasury.

When political loyalty is monetized through public awards and selective patronage, politics ceases to be an instrument of public administration. It becomes an extractive industry where every participant is simply looking to dig out their share before the pit collapses. Politics is not a career path or a lottery ticket; it is a civic duty. It is not an enterprise meant to transform a destitute operative into a multi-millionaire overnight. Until society and political institutions forcefully reject the idea that political participation carries a guaranteed financial dividend, the rot will only deepen. True service requires sacrifice, humility, and an understanding that the highest reward for public work is a better society for all, not a custom license plate and a government tender. It is time to dismantle the ranking lists, ignore the loudest mouthpieces, and remember the quiet dignity of those who sacrificed everything so that others might simply live.
