๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to our newest Chevening Scholar, Tricia Gideon! ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฟ

Service has been the foundation of Triciaโ€™s professional and personal journey. Beginning her career as an educator, she inspired young people through community service initiatives and later extended that commitment through leadership in the YWCA, becoming the first Belizean elected as a Vice President of the World YWCA. Today, she continues that spirit of service in the public sector.

Currently, Tricia serves as the Deputy Director General for Foreign Trade in Belize Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, where she leads trade policy development, regional integration, and international trade negotiations. With more than a decade of experience in trade policy, she has played a key role in advancing the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), negotiating market access agreements, and representing Belize in regional and international trade discussions ๐ŸŒŽ. She also serves as Belize's lead market access negotiator, most notably in the Belizeโ€“El Salvador trade negotiations and has successfully built regional partnerships within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to advance Belize's trade interests.

๐ŸŽ“A recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, Tricia will pursue a Master's degree in International Law and International Relations at the University of Kent. She aims to strengthen her expertise in international law, diplomacy, and trade negotiations, sharpening her skills as a negotiator to better represent Belize in an increasingly complex global trading environment.

Upon her return, Tricia intends to apply her knowledge to strengthen Belize's trade negotiation capacity, integrate international legal principles into trade policy, mentor the next generation of trade professionals, and contribute to more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient trade agreements that support Belize's long-term development. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿ‘ Join us in congratulating Tricia and wishing her every success on her Chevening journey!
