We feel there's a big need for more/ local training for staff and volunteers so we are planning more hands-on learning this year to up-skill, build confidence and develop the network of those working with young people in Frome, Somerset and Wiltshire.

Starting with hosting a FREE 2 days: "Introduction to Youth Work": an interactive training with discussions and practical activities.

Today as part of Refugee Week, we'll be out in Victoria Park using materials to help kids make dens, swings, hammocks.
Come + play, bring a picnic ☀️😎

Midsummer Mischief
Saturday 21st June

A free family gathering to celebrate the longest day of the year. Drop in anytime for crafts, outdoor play and to try out some Ukrainian folk dances.

Bring your own picnic, or grab something from the cafe in the park.

If you’d like to join our Midsummer parade (all welcome), we’ll be making costumes throughout the day and then will set off around the park at 2pm.

10 - 12: Drop-in crafts, costumes and forest play

13.00: Midsummer Storytelling

💙🩵🤎💚 Campfire Club Brigid doll! 💚🤎🩵💙
We had no straw for the traditional doll so made a more colourful version

In Irish mythology, Brigid was the Celtic triple goddess of fire 🧡

Celebrating her helped to keep the important fires alight ...
🔥 of the hearth for cooking & warmth
🔥 of the forge, for blacksmiths to make essential tools
🔥of poetry (storytelling) & inspiration!

Brigid was also connected to healing and fertility. Legends say she was born at the beginning of February, the time of year communities celebrated IMBOLC
(halfway between Winter Solstice 21.12 + Spring Equinox 20.3)

Imbolc means "in the belly" -->> the promise and bubbling of life beneath the surface in late Winter as days get longer and warmer:
🌱 Under the soil flowers are getting ready to pop out as well as the tree buds
🐦‍⬛🦊 birds and other animals making nests and the mating
🐞🐝🐛🐸 as it warms up, some creatures wake from their hibernation or "diapause"
