We don't enjoy these types of posts, but it is incredibly frustrating when rules continue to be broken and our wildlife suffers. This is one of our Cygnets with a hook in it's foot. We've been trying to catch it since last week and thankfully today have managed to, and taken to Swan Sanctuary.
PLEASE remember there is NO FISHING permitted on any of our Lakes at present. We are not set up as a day ticket lake, there are no bailiffs to carry out checks, no fishing rules stating what rigs or hooks are and aren't permitted, what equipment you should have to ensure fish safety and health, and most importantly, our rangers work across the Borough and are not always on site if in incident like this occurs.
We have seen an increase in the number of parents dropping and collecting their children off with fishing equipment, this is not acceptable. Please teach them to be respectful of rules; of fish; and of wildlife, and not to encourage them to fish when it isn't allowed.
The police and the Environment Agency have now been informed, as moving fish from one body of water to another without permission is illegal, and we have video footage.
