Good Day Everyone,
For those who may not know me yet, my name is Simon Lee Howard, and I am incredibly honoured and grateful to have been elected yesterday as your Swindon Borough Council local Reform UK Councillor - for the Badbury Park, Eldene, and Liden Ward.
First of all, I want to say a heartfelt thank you to every single person who came out to vote - whether you voted for me, for one of the two Labour candidates elected alongside me, or simply took part in the democratic process. Your voices matter, and this community showed that it cares deeply about the future of our local area and Swindon.
I also want to thank everyone who supported, encouraged, and believed in me throughout this campaign. The conversations on doorsteps, the messages, phone calls, and the support from my Family, Friends, neighbours and residents meant a great deal to me and my family.
I am a Family Man, married to my wonderful Wife and we have two beautiful children together; I’m very proud of them all! Professionally, I joined the British Army as a teenager and served a full 24 year career. I deployed on many worldwide Operations and Exercises, and retired from the Forces as a Warrant Officer Class One in 2020. I am now a Principal Support Engineer working alongside the MOD. The knowledge, skills and experience gained from these Careers underpins my strong Leadership & Management qualities going forwards as a proud Reform UK Councillor!
I live in Badbury Park and like you, it’s not just a place where we all live - it is our Home. Whether your Home is in Badbury Park, Eldene or Liden, you will be looked after by myself and my fellow Labour Councillors, as well as your Parish Councillors. I care deeply about our community, our children’s future, the safety of our streets, local services, infrastructure, and making sure residents are listened to and respected.
I want to be a common-sense Councillor, who is approachable, visible, and willing to listen - even when we may not always agree. My commitment is to work for all residents of the Ward and to help build a stronger, safer, and more connected community for everyone.
I also look forward to working constructively with the other elected councillors and Parish Councillors, to achieve positive results for you and our area.
Thank you once again for placing your trust in me, as I hope I can trust in you to help shape our future. This is only the beginning, and I am excited for what we can achieve together.
