Drivers visiting Leicestershire hospitals are being warned they could be hit with a fine unless they follow a new parking process being introduced from next week.
Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) says patients and visitors will still park for free, but only if they register their vehicle correctly on arrival.
The changes come into force at some of the trust's busiest sites from Tuesday, September 1.
Anyone attending an appointment, visiting a patient, or accessing one of the trust's services must register their vehicle on a tablet computer terminal at reception, or risk receiving a parking charge notice.
The trust says the new system is being brought in to protect free parking for staff, patients and visitors who have a legitimate reason to be on site.
Incorrect parking will also be monitored, with PCN notices issued if local parking rules, displayed on signs in each car park, are not followed.
The car parks affected by the new arrangements are at Loughborough Hospital, and LPT car parks at Glenfield, including the Bradgate Unit, Belvoir Unit, Herschel Prins Centre, Bennion Centre, Beacon Unit, Pharmacy, and the Education and Training Centre.
Also included are LPT car parks at Leicester General, covering the Evington Centre, Neville Centre, Gwendolen House and Hadley House.
The new rules do not apply to parking at Leicestershire's main hospitals. University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL), which runs the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Glenfield Hospital and Leicester General Hospital, is a separate trust and is not affected by the change.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust confirmed the change was designed to ensure fair use of parking spaces across its sites. Anyone with questions about the new system is being advised to speak to staff at reception when they arrive.
