Will they fit?!?๐Ÿค”๐Ÿš’

Tonight's drill session focused on emergency procedures while wearing breathing apparatus, putting our crews' skills and composure to the test.

White watch undertook a scenario simulating a building collapse, requiring firefighters to remove their BA sets and negotiate extremely tight spaces to reach safety. As the photos show it was a bit of a squeeze!๐Ÿ‘€

The session also included training with our Emergency Air Sipply Equipment (EASE) and practising how to provide air to a trapped firefighter using the second-person attachment on our BA sets.

๐Ÿ†Loughborough 'Charnwood Champions' ๐Ÿฅ‡

Today Loughborough and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Birstall Station White Watches came together for a water rescue training session kindly organised by Birstall.

These sessions are crucial in order for our crews to sharpen their skills, knowledge and have valuable time working together as co-responding water rescue crews, ensuring we are best prepared to respond to live water rescue incidents.. As a reminder open water can be extremely dangerous so please stay safe around water โœ….

To round the session off the watches took part in a 'friendly' water rescue relay race, putting teamwork, speed and a healthy dose of competitiveness to the test! ๐Ÿšฃ

After a display of what one spectator (๐Ÿฆ†) described as "sheer athletic dominance and prowess" Loughborough White Watch came away with the bragging rights. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡

Could you be an On-Call Firefighter?

This week is NFCC Careers Week, a chance to highlight the many different roles and opportunities within the fire and rescue service.

Loughborough Fire Station has recently re-established its On-Call Firefighter section and weโ€™re looking for more people from our local community to join the team.

But what is an On-Call Firefighter?

On-call firefighters are everyday people with everyday lives โ€” they have jobs, families and commitments, but when their pager goes off they respond from home or work to help protect their community.

From fires and road traffic collisions to flooding and rescues, on-call firefighters train to the same high standards and respond alongside their whole-time colleagues.

You donโ€™t need previous experience โ€” just commitment, teamwork, a good level of fitness and a desire to make a difference.

If youโ€™ve ever driven past the station and thought:

โ€œI wonder if I could do that?โ€

Maybe now is the time to find out.

Loughborough crews assist at major A14 lorry fire

Yesterday ,firefighters from Loughborough Fire Station were mobilised to Northamptonshire to assist neighbouring fire and rescue services at a significant lorry fire on the A14.

The incident involved a lorry carrying straw bales which became fully involved in fire, producing large volumes of smoke and requiring a substantial firefighting operation.

Loughborough's Water Carrier was requested to support crews already on scene, providing the large quantities of water needed to tackle a fire of this scale.

The photographs show the intensity of the incident, the resources committed, and the teamwork involved when fire and rescue services work across county boundaries to support one another.

The route map highlights the distance travelled by Loughborough crews to provide assistance, demonstrating how specialist resources can be deployed wherever they are needed.
A great example of firefighters from different services working together to protect communities and keep people safe.

Boats need working smoke alarms too.

A fire on a boat can spread quickly, especially in confined spaces where escape routes are limited. A working smoke alarm can provide those vital extra seconds to get out safely.
If you donโ€™t have working smoke alarms at home or on your boat, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service can offer free fire safety advice and support.

Find out more here: https://leics-fire.gov.uk/at-home
Or feel free to contact us through our page and we can point you in the right direction.
Please share this post with anybody who may not have working smoke alarms.

Not every tough job leaves visible damage.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to remind people that difficult incidents, pressure at work and balancing family life, work and responding on-call can all take a toll.

Itโ€™s OK to talk, check in on your crew mates and ask for support when you need it.

Whether whole-time, on-call, control or support staff โ€” nobody should struggle in silence.

Yesterday Loughborough White Watch were pleased to welcome a local home education group to Loughborough Fire Station for a fun and educational visit. ๐Ÿš’

The group learned about the importance of fire safety in the home, what to do in an emergency, and how firefighters help keep the community safe.

Of course, one of the highlights of the day was getting hands-on with our firefighting equipment and having a go at using the hose reels! ๐Ÿ’ฆ

A big thank you to everyone who attended โ€” we hope you all enjoyed your visit and took away some valuable fire safety knowledge.

โš ๏ธ ๐Ÿšจ SAFETY WARNING โ€“ ARSON RISK ๐Ÿšจ โš ๏ธ

We are extremely concerned about deliberate fires involving multiple wheelie bins in the Cumberland Road / Storer Road / George Street area. Many bins are being left directly next to homes and fences and some are overflowing with recycling and general rubbish, creating a significant fire risk to people and property allowing fires to spread very quickly.

๐Ÿš’ In the early hours of this morning, two fire crews from Loughborough were in attendance dealing with these incidents. ๐Ÿš’

Due to repeated anti-social behaviour and serious safety concerns, a Public Space Protection Order is currently in force locally to protect residents and properties.

Residents are urged to comply with this, avoid leaving bins outside properties except during permitted times, prevent bins from overflowing, and remain alert.

If you see Smoke, Flames, or suspicious behaviour:๏ฟฝ๐Ÿ“ž ๐Ÿšจ CALL 999 IMMEDIATELY - Do not assume someone else has already done so.
