🚧 £𝟴𝟴.𝟵 𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗘’𝗦 𝗥𝗢𝗔𝗗𝗦

We inherited roads that needed serious attention and we’re getting on with fixing them.

£88.9m is being invested in Lancashire’s roads this year, with a further £10m approved for highways maintenance.

More repairs. Better roads. Longer-lasting fixes.

There’s still more to do, but we’re delivering.

Fylde is set to add at least 6,656 new homes by 2042.

That means more fields, farmland and green spaces being built on across our towns and villages.

Lancashire County Council has responded following the Government's decision to grant development consent for the Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms Transmission Assets project.

𝐅𝐘𝐋𝐃𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓. 𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍.

This morning the Government signed off the Morgan and Morecambe cable corridor.

Nearly 20 miles of our countryside dug up. Cables coming ashore on our coast. Two enormous substations built on Green Belt land between Kirkham and Newton. Eleven years of construction.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐬.

Four independent planning inspectors examined this scheme for six months. They recommended refusing it. They found the substations were inappropriate development in the Green Belt and that the harm outweighed the benefit.

A Labour minister overruled them and granted it anyway.

Reform Lancashire County Council paid for an independent review of a better northern route through Stanah and Hillhouse. It found savings of £287 million. Local parish councils put the figure far higher. The Government dismissed the whole thing as "immature and inchoate" and waved the developer's plan through.

Then there is this. Morgan's owners pulled out in January. There is no developer. The Government has just consented to a cable corridor and a substation for a wind farm that currently nobody is building. Ministers refused the compulsory purchase powers because the funding isn't secure and granted the consent regardless.

This is what Fylde gets for decades of loyalty to the Conservatives. No serious investment in jobs. Kirkham Baths shut. St Annes Pool shut. Net zero written into law by a Conservative government in 2019, then handed to Labour to accelerate. Our MP was elected promising to stop this corridor, and today it went through.

Labour will keep doing this to Fylde because Fylde has never cost them a seat. The Conservatives can't stop it because they started it.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘂𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱.

When Reform took control of Lancashire County Council, we made clear our view: Lancashire should no longer be responsible for administering the Government’s refugee resettlement schemes.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘂𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗱.

When Reform took control of Lancashire County Council, we made clear our view: Lancashire should no longer be responsible for administering the Government’s refugee resettlement schemes.

What happened next?

Councillors from 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿, 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘀 and the 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 all backed a cross-party attempt to challenge the decision.

Think about that.

Parties that spend their time fighting each other suddenly found common ground when it came to challenging a Reform decision.

They tried to stop it through a formal call-in, questioning the decision, the process and the financial implications.

And they failed.

The scrutiny committee voted 6–4 that the Reform administration had followed the council’s decision-making principles. The decision stands.

This is exactly why people voted Reform.

While the old parties defend the status quo, Reform is delivering change.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼.

No more Lancashire County Council acting as the administrator and coordinator for these Government refugee schemes.

The message is simple:

Lancashire County Council should concentrate on Lancashire.

𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿.
