Drinking water supplies are continuing to return to customers across Kent today.

Currently there are around 117 households with no water in the Mereworth area due to low levels in our drinking water storage tank which supplies the area, however we expect supplies to be restored today.

Although our network is continuing to recover, levels of drinking water in our storage tanks are still low following the recent heatwave and we are asking customers to use water for essential purposes only - drinking, cooking, and hygiene.

We are continuing to use our tankers to support the network and aid recovery.

We’re also supporting schools, hospitals and other critical care settings, and we’re delivering bottled water to customers on our Priority Services Register in areas still experiencing supply issues.

Our bottled water stations reopened at 9am today for customers to collect water at the following locations:
💧 Sainsbury’s Altira Business Park, 6 The Boulevard, Herne Bay, CT6 6GZ
💧 Sainsbury’s Reeves Way, Chestfield, Whitstable, CT5 3QS
💧 Kavanagh Cinema, William Street, Herne Bay, CT6 5NX
💧 YMCA, Melrose Close, Maidstone, ME15 6BD
💧 Staplehurst Village Hall, High Street, Staplehurst TN12 0BJ (run by Staplehurst Emergency Independent Group)

These may change to reflect the current situation, please check the website for up-to-date information: https://orlo.uk/T8uLK

⚠️ If your waste is fly tipped and traced back to you, you could receive a fine of up to £600 - even if you didn’t dump it yourself ⚠️

Before you pay anyone to take your waste away, make sure to check that they have a Waste Carriers Licence via the Environment Agency website, ask for a Waste Transfer Note (so you know where it’s going) and jot down their vehicle registration.

These small steps offer reassurance that you’re protected from any dodgy deals 😅

If in doubt, walk away – it’s not worth the risk!

With parts of Kent still facing water disruption, we've been working closely with the DfE and South East Water to reduce disruption to pupils’ learning.

We know this is a concerning situation for families. Schools will contact parents and carers if there are any changes to the usual school day (for example, if they need to make temporary arrangements to open only to students sitting exams).

📩 Please check your emails or messages from your child’s school and follow their guidance if in doubt.

✅ Exams will go ahead as planned for all GCSE and A-Level students.
✅ Special schools have plans in place and are expected to open as usual.

Today marks the final day of National Walking Month 🚶‍♀️

Throughout May, we’ve celebrated walking as a simple, everyday way to travel, whether it’s to work, school, the shops, or just part of the journey.

Choosing to walk, wheel or cycle can improve your health, save money, reduce traffic, and help create a more environmentally friendly Kent for everyone. 💚🌱

National Walking Month may be ending, but the benefits don’t have to, this could be the beginning of your long term walking journey.
