๐Ÿš— Have your say on safer speeds in Essex

Essex County Council has launched a public consultation on the draft Essex Safer Speeds Strategy, which aims to reduce serious road traffic collisions and improve safety for people walking, cycling and travelling around their communities.

Speed is a major factor in serious collisions across Essex, and the strategy supports the countyโ€™s Vision Zero goal of eliminating deaths and serious injuries on Essex roads by 2040.

Residents, businesses and visitors are invited to share their views on the proposed approach to managing speed limits across the county.

๐Ÿ—“ Consultation open: 16 March โ€“ 26 April 2026

You can find out more and complete the survey here:
https://consultations.essex.gov.uk/essex-highways/essex-safer-speeds-strategy

Your feedback will help shape the final strategy before it is adopted later this year.

Local Government Reorganisation - Have Your Say on the Future of Local Government in Essex

It's time to tell the Government what you think about the future of councils in Essex!

Right now, there are 15 councils that deliver most services to Essex residents. The Government wants fewer. Staying as we are isn't an option. Along with most other councils in Essex, our preference is for 15 to become 5.

Other proposals call for 4 or 3. Our proposal would mean Maldon joining Chelmsford, Brentwood and parts of Essex County Council to form a new Mid Essex unitary council.

Maldon District Council believes five councils has the best chance of keeping local government local. But this isnโ€™t the only option being put forward. This is your opportunity to let the Government know what you want. Please respond through their website.
