📢 Road Surface Update for Middleton Cheney Residents
Several weeks ago, Middleton Cheney Parish Council requested an on-site meeting with Kier, the contractor responsible for highway repairs on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council, to discuss worsening road conditions across the village. The meeting took place on 26 February and included detailed discussions followed by a tour of the village to highlight key problem areas.
As a result, Kier has agreed to bring forward the next full inspection of the village road network, recognising that some locations now require priority attention. Roads are normally inspected every six months, but recent severe seasonal weather has led to significant deterioration locally and across the wider region.
Across West Northamptonshire, repair reports nearly doubled in January and February compared with late last year. With no additional workforce or budget available to meet this unexpected demand, repair times have been affected region-wide.
Residents are thanked for continuing to report issues via FixMyStreet. Please avoid duplicating existing reports, but do update them if conditions worsen. When submitting reports, include wider-area photos as well as close-ups to help assess access and traffic management needs.
The Parish Council will continue working closely with Kier and will share further updates once inspection dates and repair schedules are confirmed. In the meantime, please contact the Parish Clerk with any questions or concerns.
