Feedback sought on previous consultation response

We’d like to invite residents to share their thoughts on the Parish Council’s response to the Draft Local Plan consultation.

The deadline for this consultation has passed, however the Council still wishes to receive your views ahead of further consultations.
It was acknowledged in comments made at the annual parish meeting that some felt the Parish Council could have been more proactive in encouraging residents to make their views known on West Northamptonshire Council's draft local plan.
For clarity, the consultation and details of how to respond were shared on the Parish Council’s website and social media channels, as well as through West Northamptonshire Council’s own platforms.

You can view the Parish Council’s full response here:

Ahead of the Highways and Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday 7th April, we would really value any further feedback. Your comments will help us better understand where residents feel the response may not have fully reflected local views and additional remarks to put forward in the future.

Please share any additional remarks by email ([email protected]) or at the Councillor drop-in, or drop a note through to the office.

Thank you for taking the time to engage and to those who responded to WNC's consultation with WNC directly.

📢 Road Surface Update for Middleton Cheney Residents

Several weeks ago, Middleton Cheney Parish Council requested an on-site meeting with Kier, the contractor responsible for highway repairs on behalf of West Northamptonshire Council, to discuss worsening road conditions across the village. The meeting took place on 26 February and included detailed discussions followed by a tour of the village to highlight key problem areas.

As a result, Kier has agreed to bring forward the next full inspection of the village road network, recognising that some locations now require priority attention. Roads are normally inspected every six months, but recent severe seasonal weather has led to significant deterioration locally and across the wider region.

Across West Northamptonshire, repair reports nearly doubled in January and February compared with late last year. With no additional workforce or budget available to meet this unexpected demand, repair times have been affected region-wide.

Residents are thanked for continuing to report issues via FixMyStreet. Please avoid duplicating existing reports, but do update them if conditions worsen. When submitting reports, include wider-area photos as well as close-ups to help assess access and traffic management needs.

The Parish Council will continue working closely with Kier and will share further updates once inspection dates and repair schedules are confirmed. In the meantime, please contact the Parish Clerk with any questions or concerns.

Following a lively weekend of discussions, here's a small but sincere invitation…

Middleton Cheney Parish Council is looking for new members to help shape and drive the things that sit within its powers, the unglamorous but important stuff that quietly keeps the village ticking along.

Will you be hailed as a pillar of the community? Quite possibly.
Is the pay generous? Impressively non-existent.
Will the thanks be constant and overflowing? Perhaps sporadic is the best term.

But the difference you know you've made - for the village, your neighbours, and future Middleton Cheney - that part really is significant.

If you've ever thought "someone should do something about that"… this might be your moment.
