Little Woodland Explorers

10am-11:30am Wednesday at Malton Castle Gardens Woodland play sessions for parents and carers with young children. Join us throughout the seasons at Little Woodland Explorers based in Malton's Castle Gardens. This is a relaxed freeflow community space in the centre of town. The weekly sessions exist to heighten seasonal awareness amongst parents and carers with young children, developing outdoor confidence and opportunities to forge new friendships. Our woodland play activities rotate from week to week and include nature walks where we observe wild life in their natural habitats and hunt for seasonal treasures. Our activities include painting using traditional or mud based paints with a variety of natural handmade brushes. We make our own natural plant based dyes to print using the leaves, fruits and flowers we find in the gardens. Other activities include den building, making rivers and lakes in the muddy area and target practice with our spud launcher! We spend time exchanging stories in our teepee library We wind up each session with hot chocolate in winter or fresh juice in summer, parents or carers are always welcome to bring a picnic.
