We have now introduced body-worn cameras across all four of our hospitals in Bury, Oldham, Rochdale and Salford to help protect our colleagues, patients and visitors.

These cameras are a key part of our commitment to building a culture where everyone feels safe, valued and respected.

Unwanted and abusive behaviours have no place in our Trust. We expect everyone to be considerate and respectful of each other’s different lived experiences.

The cameras will be worn by designated clinical staff and activated only if a colleague feels threatened and only after informing the individual involved. They provide a clear and objective record to support investigations and, where necessary, legal action.

Most importantly, this is about creating a safer, calmer and more respectful environment for everyone who comes through our doors.

During the winter months, cases of flu like illness, diarrhoea and vomiting are more common.

To help reduce the spread of viruses in our hospitals, we ask all patients and visitors to follow our Visitors Charter.

This includes wearing a face mask and using the hand gel stations available at all entrances.

Over the weekend, the Silver Heart Unit at Fairfield General Hospital marked an amazing milestone — 30 years of caring for our community. 💙

For three decades, the team has provided exceptional cardiac care, compassion, and support to thousands of patients and their families.

The service began at Birch Hill Hospital back in 1996, moved to Rochdale Infirmary, and has proudly been based at Fairfield General Hospital since 2012.

A huge thank you to every member of the Silver Heart Unit, past and present. Your hard work, professionalism, and commitment make a real difference every single day and we are so grateful for everything you do.

Here’s to 30 years of life‑changing impact, and many more to come!

Resident doctors will be taking strike action from from 7am on Wednesday 17 December (today) until 7am on Monday 22 December.

Urgent and emergency care remains open. People with life-threatening conditions should come forward as normal.

Please attend your scheduled appointment unless you are contacted and told otherwise.

The public can support the NHS by checking in on vulnerable family or neighbours, ensuring they have essential medication, and helping loved ones return home promptly if ready for hospital discharge.

At the start of the year, we proudly expanded our eye retrieval service in partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) — now covering Salford Royal, Fairfield General (Bury), Rochdale Infirmary, and The Royal Oldham Hospital.

For years, we've supported cornea donation, but this enhanced service means more opportunities to restore sight and transform lives. 💙

None of this would be possible without our incredible bereavement nurses, who carry out daily reviews, offer compassionate conversations, and deliver outstanding care across all sites. 🙏

Together, we’re helping more people see the world again.

It is National , a campaign reminding parents that infant crying is normal 👶

Our colleagues in have been delivering ICON training to help reduce the risk of head trauma in young children.

Here are the four simple principles of the ICON programme:

I – Infant crying is normal and will stop;
C – Comfort methods can sometimes soothe the baby;
O – It's OK to walk away for a few minutes if the baby is safe and the crying feels overwhelming;
N – Never shake or hurt a baby.
