Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, we’re proud to stand alongside our colleagues, tenants and communities to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and celebrate the individuality of Autism. We’ve been wearing blue and, more importantly, sharing the personal stories behind why this day matters to us.

For some, it’s about being a parent, navigating years of advocacy to ensure their child is heard, supported and understood. It’s seeing first-hand the challenges autism and ADHD can bring in everyday life, but also the incredible resilience, determination and growth that comes with the right support. It’s celebrating achievements that may look different to others but mean everything.
For others, it’s about family, supporting a loved one with complex needs to find a safe, stable home where they can truly belong. It’s understanding, on a personal level, just how life-changing the right environment can be, and why consistency, security and care matter so deeply.
And for some, it’s about the small, everyday moments, loving someone for exactly who they are. It’s the late-night phone calls, the unique interests, the kindness and humour they bring, and the challenges they face in a world that doesn’t always understand them. It’s also seeing the importance of protecting and supporting those who may be more vulnerable, while celebrating everything they achieve in their own way.

These stories remind us that awareness goes far beyond the workplace it’s personal, it’s emotional, and it’s part of our everyday lives.
As a social housing provider, we know how important it is to create spaces where people feel safe, supported and valued. Today reinforces why we do what we do, not just as professionals, but as people and family.
Because everyone deserves not only a place to call home, but a community that understands and celebrates them.

Today is often called ‘Blue Monday’ a ‘mythical’ day that was created for marketing things post-Christmas such as holidays.
For some of our tenants, struggles with mental health aren’t limited to one day on the calendar, they are part of everyday life and the challenges they face.

We want you to know that if you are feeling low, overwhelmed, anxious or disconnected you do not have to cope on your own,
Small steps can make a difference:

💙 Talking to someone you trust
💙 Reaching out for support from your GP
💙 contacting a charity who support mental health

One of our Supported Accommodation teams hosted a Halloween Quiz night, bringing tenants together for an evening full of laughter, music, and a little friendly competition with a quiz.

The quiz was made inclusive for everyone, with multiple-choice questions and team work to encourage support and connection. One tenant even brought along a speaker to set the mood with some spooky tunes!

It was great to see everyone joining in, dressing up, and enjoying the chance to socialise. Events like this help build confidence, friendship, and a real sense of community, the heart of what supported housing is all about.

Growing Hope & Wellbeing One Plant at a Time! 🌱

We’re so excited to share a wonderful project happening in our Supported Accommodation services, using gardening to boost wellbeing, save money, and bring a little joy into everyday life.

At our Brighton project, without an outdoor garden, we’ve taken things inside! Clients have been growing vibrant flowers and fresh herbs like coriander, mint, and parsley!

Over in Hove, we’re lucky to have a beautiful outdoor space. With the help of our amazing weekly garden volunteer, clients have been tending their own patches, growing colourful flowers, fragrant herbs, and in our client-built greenhouse ,chili peppers, lettuce, and red peppers!

This project has been a fantastic way for clients and staff to learn how to grow food from seed, make use of what we already have, and enjoy the proven mental health benefits of spending time in nature.

A huge thank you to our local community for the incredible donations that have helped bring this project to life your support has made a real difference. 💚

Sharing the Love at Quays Housing ❤️

This Valentine’s Day, we wanted to do something special for our residents—because supported housing isn’t just a temporary solution; it’s about fostering a true sense of community. To brighten their day, we surprised our tenants with Valentine’s treats, creating meaningful moments of joy and connection.

What makes this even more heartwarming? These gifts came from our incredibly generous neighbors at our Brighton & Hove scheme, who donated them unprompted! As a community-focused organization, we rely on donations to bring moments like this to life, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you for helping us make Quays Housing a place where everyone feels valued and supported. ❤️
