29 Year 4 students from St John Fisher RC Primary School joined us at the Clough today. We had a wonderful time walking a section of the sculpture trail, identifying different leaf shapes, creating art pieces from nature's offerings and finally locating the beautiful colours of nature on the way back to class. Boarshaw Clough is such a lovely green space to have so accessible to the school. I continued to be reminded how important it is to care for this space and help to make it safe and enjoyable for the community.
We saw a beautiful Heron on the water - just wished I had managed to get my camera out in time.

Thank you to those who joined us yesterday at our second Spaces to Connect 'Community Action Day' at Boarshaw Clough. We focused our session on a tidy up of an area which was highlighted as an area, from a local resident who joined us to litter pick on our first Action Day in May, they would like to see tidied. It was great to hear comments by walkers passing by who joined us to chat about the wonderful green space this is local to them and it was good to hear appreciation for the actions that are happening from both Groundwork's and community member's actions! Equally pleasing was to hear suggestions for progress going forward 🙂

We look forward to seeing those who are able to join us at Boarshaw Clough this coming Wednesday 16th June10:30am. Please pop down if you are able to - there are no requirements to join in any physical work - come down and have a chat about what the Clough means to you and how you can be involved in it's welfare 🙂

If you would like to join in the physical activity, tools will be provided and we ask you wear sturdy footwear. We will be focusing on tidying the area around the 'Egg' Sculpture at the Lodge.

The Clough has certainly come alive with lots of growth, which brings the Himalayan Balsam to life in great numbers. We will be focusing our next Action Day on the 14th of July on 'Balsam Bashing' but there is plenty of Balsam for the picking now if you would like remove some Balsam on Wednesday. Litter-picking is an ongoing task all year round and we will have litter pickers and bags available - you may wish to litter pick around our focused area. If you are walking the dog, please stop by and say hi.

Hi all. Hope you are well and enjoying the lovely weather! If you are free next Wednesday (16th June), please come down and join us at the Lodge from 10:30 onwards. We will be focusing on a tidy up of the area at the Lodge / Egg sculpture. Come down for a chat, a litter pick , clearing the area of overgrowth etc. Tools and refreshments will be provided. New recruits at Groundwork have been busy learning news skills and repairing the boardwalk at Boarshaw Clough over the past few weeks:

The first cohort of DWP Kickstart employees have started work at Groundwork Greater Manchester, launching their careers at in the green economy.
