Shining a light on our amazing children of our foster carers marking the start of The Fostering Network Children of Foster Carers Week 2026.

Children of Foster Carers’ Week is here! 🎉

Over the next seven days we’ll be celebrating the contribution of birth and adopted children of foster carers and the incredible impact they have in fostering families.

We’re kicking off the week by introducing you to Dantai. 👋

Adopted at 16 months old, Dantai proudly calls himself a foster carer and recently stood up in his school assembly to tell everyone he hopes to foster when he's older.

When children join his family, he shares his own experiences of being fostered and adopted, helping them feel safe and understood. His mum, Amanda, says he has embraced fostering with his whole heart.

Amanda adds: "Dantai is, in every sense, a superstar. He embodies kindness, compassion and courage. He makes my heart smile every single day, and I am more proud of him than words can ever fully capture."

Thank you, Dantai, for everything you do for children and young people in foster care.

This , we're shining a light on the vital role foster carers play in supporting children and young people's mental health. 🫂

From recognising anxiety and trauma to creating the conditions for young people to open up, foster carers are often providing support long before specialist help becomes available.

Stockport’s community of kinship carers celebrated Kinship Care Week with a tea party for local kinship carers. ❤️🫖🍰

The Mayor, Councillor Mark Hunter, and Mayoress, Rachel Hunter, joined Stockport Council Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, Councillor Colin MacAlister, members of Stockport’s kinship team and Kinship charity at the tea party at Ivy Café in Cheadle.

They recognised and thanked our dedicated community of local kinship carers for the role they play providing loving, stable homes, and for keeping children connected with their families, roots and community. ❤️🙏
