Trafford Council’s job club has helped a young care leaver gain valuable experience.

Aiden recently completed a degree in architecture. At Stretford Public Hall’s job club, Elaine Dawson, Employment Support Officer, at the Council’s Inclusive Economy and Communities Team, told him about potential opportunities with Greengage.

Aiden was able to secure a two-week placement at Greengage – and thanks to his new contacts there, a second two-week placement at LDA Design, a partner to Greengage, also in the city centre.

🚨 Fake football kits seized in Trafford

Trafford Council has taken 4,000 counterfeit football items off the market after a major haul was discovered at an address in Altrincham.

The seized goods included fake shirts, shorts and socks linked to top teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and England.

Working with Merseyside Police and Manchester Magistrates Court, our Trading Standards team secured an early forfeiture order, ensuring the counterfeit items are removed from circulation.

We are pleased to have removed these counterfeit items from potential sale. Our Trading Standards team works hard to protect the public from inferior goods, support legitimate businesses and keep Trafford safe.

Ahead of kick-off tonight, let’s show domestic abuse the red card this World Cup.

This tournament, Trafford Council, our partners and local venues are working together to challenge harmful behaviour and remind everyone that domestic abuse is never part of the game.

Because while most fans celebrate safely, we know incidents of abuse can increase around major sporting events.

The third Trafford Moving Conference will take place Tuesday 14 July at University Academy 92, from 9:45am to 3:30pm. The event is aimed at improving residents’ health across the borough by better linking up health services and opportunities to be active, and partners from across Trafford are expected to attend.

The event will focus on the Trafford Moving Strategy and ways to connect primary healthcare with people and places offering different ways to take physical activity, helping residents to live healthier lives.

It’s Carers Week 💙

This week, we’re saying a huge thank you to all the unpaid carers across Trafford who support a loved one, friend or neighbour every day.

More than 18,000 people in Trafford provide unpaid care, helping family members and friends living with illness, disability, mental health challenges or the effects of ageing.

This year’s theme ‘Building Carer Friendly Communities’ is all about making sure carers feel seen, valued and supported.
