Commitment to Increase The Number of Fostering Households

In February this year, the Government has pledged its commitment to help increase the number of fostering households across England. There continues to be a shortage of foster carers with existing carers stopping fostering because of having a change of life circumstances, retiring, health difficulties or moving house. The aim is to recruit 10,000 new fostering households by 2029, this is outlined in the Renewing Fostering action plan....

Increased tax allowances for foster carers!

For the new tax year, from 5 April 2026, the Government have increased the tax allowances for foster carers. This is for foster carer payments that are received by foster carers as self employment income. The new rates have an annual allowance of £20,440, increased from £19,690. This is an effective increase by 3.8%. Then the weekly rates are also higher for each child or young person....

We are really pleased to share that Beacon Fostering has now had its first Ofsted inspection in February 2026. The report has been published this week, with the agency being rated "Good" in all areas.

This reflects the commitment from all our foster carers, staff team, panel members and professionals that we work with. The most important achievement for us together being the positive outcomes for children and young persons.

Ofsted highlighted the positive work by the agency, that our therapeutic model is well embedded and feedback from professionals covered that the focus on children's needs is "exemplary".
