Even though Foster Care Fortnight has come to an end, our commitment to keeping fostering in the spotlight continues 💜

We didn’t get the chance to share this during the campaign, but it felt too important not to post. One of our amazing Business Support team members, Ceri, beautifully captured what fostering means to her:

"To me fostering is hope - hope for the children and their future, hope for meaningful connections and love filled lives. Hope for the foster carers to bring safety and happiness to a child's life. Hope for a foster carer to bring joy and a sense of completeness to their own lives. Fostering is tough and challenging, surprising and rewarding with moments of bright joy and moments of dark humour. Underpinning it all though is hope."

Fostering doesn’t stop after two weeks - and neither should the conversation. 💬

This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, and the vital role LGBTQ+ foster carers play in changing children’s lives. 🌈

Children and young people in care need safe, loving homes from people of all backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ carers.

There is an ongoing need for more foster carers across the UK. In England alone, around 54,820 children were living with foster families as of 31 March 2025, and across the UK, nearly 67,000 children live with around 52,000 foster families on any given day. Thousands more foster families are still needed every year.

Having a diverse range of foster carers helps children feel safe, accepted and understood. For some young people, especially those exploring their identity, that understanding can make a huge difference.

You don’t need to fit a “traditional” mould to foster. You just need compassion, commitment, and room in your heart to care.

We’re so proud to welcome Terry & Sheila to the Lorimer family as newly approved foster carers 💜

Although Foster Care Fortnight has come to an end, the need for loving foster homes doesn’t stop here 💜

Every day, children and young people still need safe, nurturing families who can offer stability, care, and a place to feel they belong. For some, fostering might be for a short time; for others, it’s about providing long-term support and guidance. But for all of them, it can be life-changing 💫

There’s no formal qualification required to start your fostering journey. What matters most are your personal qualities, life experience, and the ability to provide a safe, supportive home.
