A very moving ‘Lest We Forget’ flag on the village green. June marks major WWII anniversaries, such as D-Day, and the rainbow colours signify a multitude of meanings and emotions to people at this time of year. Thank you to our usual flag volunteers.

Hidden beneath the trees of what is now Poulter Country Park once stood a vital part of Britain's First World War effort: His Majesty's Explosives Factory, Langwith. Hundreds of local people worked tirelessly to produce materials essential to the nation's defence.
But this work came at a terrible cost.
During the factory's short life, two devastating flash fires claimed the lives of six workers, including four women. These were ordinary people from our community who reported for work each day knowing the dangers, yet continued to serve their country in its time of need.
More than a century later, their sacrifice deserves to be remembered.
The Langwith Society are raising funds to create a permanent memorial to the workers of HM Factory Langwith, a place where future generations can learn about the courage, dedication and loss that formed part of our local history.

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to ensuring these people are never forgotten.

Please consider donating and sharing this appeal. Link here:

A Bassetlaw man who was a stalwart of the Worksop branch of the Royal British Legion, and of his village, Nether Langwith, where he served as parish councillor twice, has died at the age of 89.

Awful to see this was vandalised. Please give what you can to help.
