The village green is not a dumping ground for your leftover picnic items. This isn’t fair on anyone. We don’t have the capacity to clean up old deck chairs, blankets and bulky waste. Take it home.

In Bassetlaw, dropping litter could carry a £100 fixed penalty fine. Failing to pay could lead to a much higher prosecution. Take your litter home or bin it.

❗️WILDFIRE RISK – PLEASE TAKE CARE ON OUR PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY❗️

With dry conditions increasing the risk of wildfires, the Rights of Way Team are asking everyone using local footpaths, bridleways and other public rights of way to take extra care.

Please:
• Stay on designated paths and follow any local warnings or restrictions.
• Do not light fires or use disposable barbecues.
• Never drop ci******es, matches or other items that could start a fire.
• Take all rubbish home with you – including glass.
• Keep dogs under control and be mindful of livestock and wildlife.
• Please keep away from straw bales and do not climb on, move or damage them.

If you see smoke or a fire, move to a safe place and call 999. Do not attempt to tackle the fire yourself.

Parents & carers – please talk to children and young people about the consequences of deliberately starting fires. Setting fire to a straw bale or dry vegetation can have serious and potentially life-changing consequences. Wildfires can spread rapidly, particularly across dry grass, cropped fields and woodland. What may appear to be a harmless act or prank can quickly become a major emergency.

Your care and consideration can help protect our countryside, wildlife, local residents and emergency services.

Thank you for helping keep our local rights of way safe 🙏

Should you encounter any issues on public rights of way such as obstructions or vegetation, please report them on the Nottinghamshire County Council website This helps the Rights of Way Team respond more quickly and helps keep the routes safe and accessible.

Thank you.
