I’ve just received a free trial of Jelly Drops and wanted to share! 🍬

I’ve seen so many people-both with and without dementia—get dehydrated because they simply forget to drink or they actually avoid it because they’re worried about constant trips to the loo.

If you have a family member in this boat, you’ll know... It’s more than just being thirsty; it leads to nasty UTIs, painful infections, and dizziness/falls. The confusion it causes is the worst part - it can actually mimic dementia or make existing confusion and distress much worse.

Sadly, hospital stays can be so hard. (This isn't a reflection on the staff or down to neglect - nurses work incredibly hard in sometimes, very difficult, and underfunded conditions- thats another story 🙄) but the nature of the environment. Being away from home and the routine someone is used to causes so much extra stress. Between the constant noise on the wards and the unfamiliarity, it often leads to sleep deprivation and even lower appetites. Plus, in a hospital setting, there are naturally more risks of picking up other infections. People often come out feeling much poorlier just because the environment is so disorienting for them.

I’ve noticed most people get a massive sweet tooth as they get older - it’s actually because our other taste buds dull, but we can usually still taste "sweet" clearly! So, I’m trying these drops out. They’re 95% water but look and taste like treats.

I don’t get any commission if anyone decides to purchase, it’s just something I’m really passionate about. I’m not giving away a full supply, but I’d love to drop a couple off for you to try just to see if they’re an option that works for the person you’re looking after.

* Harborough Area: Let me know and I’ll drop a couple by!
* Existing Clients: I’ll bring some when I next visit.

A few other tips for fluid intake:
* Hydration Labels: You can easily buy or make your own stickers at home to put on cups or water bottles. These are brilliant for catching the eye of any visitors or carers. If they spot the label, they’ll know to check if the drink needs a refill or if it has been moved. I'd recommend adding "KEEP WITHIN MY REACH" to the label - it's vital for anyone who can't get up easily or might forget where they put their bottle.
* Jelly & Ice Lollies: A bit higher in sugar, but I think there comes an age where you’ve earned the right to enjoy the "naughty list" in moderation! 🍦
* Veggies: Cucumber, lettuce, and tomatoes are basically "solid water."
* Soups & Stews: Brilliant for hydration and can be fortified with extra cream or butter if they’ve lost weight. It’s always better to have some energy stored up!

Anyway, have a lovely day! Please message me directly if you’re interested in trying one or two.

⚠️ Important Disclaimer: Please remember these are not suitable for anyone with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia). They are a firm jelly and do require chewing. If the person has a history of coughing or choking while eating, please consult a doctor or a Speech and Language Therapist before trying these. Also, while they help, they shouldn't be the only source of fluid. Always check with a medical professional if you’re worried about someone’s health or hydration levels!

Good support is not only about stepping in during a crisis. It is about creating stability long before it is needed.

Sometimes that means easing the load at home. Sometimes it means noticing small shifts before they become bigger concerns. Sometimes it simply means being a consistent, trusted presence.

I provide steady, relationship led support that helps people remain independent for longer, while adapting gently as life changes.

No contracts. No surprise fees. Regular or appointment visits available. DBS checked, insured, qualified, and experienced.

Does anyone have recommendations for small, local businesses you trust?

I would really value recommendations within the following areas:

Tradesmen
Plumbers, electricians, builders, locksmiths, handymen, decorators, window repairs, and similar services for repairs, maintenance, or new work.

Cleaning and gardening
Reliable home cleaners, window cleaners, gardeners, and anyone who helps keep a property safe, tidy, and well cared for.

Hair and beauty
Mobile or local hairdressers, barbers, foot care, nail services, and other professionals who provide respectful, professional services, particularly those experienced with older or more vulnerable clients.

I am looking for the kind of people you would confidently recommend to your own family. Small, dependable, small local businesses make such a difference.

Thank you in advance 😊

Companionship is connection to everyday life when days feel long and social circles become smaller. It can be very focused, or a familiar and quiet presence.

Practical support is a bit of help with everyday things that are essential for safety, comfort and peace of mind. The day to day routine, and keeping on top of the bits and bobs that are necessary and often feel never-ending.

When I’m there for one, I’m always aware of the other...

For those between independence and care

or those with care in place - between visits and within care settings.

I provide attentive, relational support that helps people remain safe, seen, and supported at home.
