From Wednesday Feb 5th the Government launched the Statutory Consultation period for the Greater Lincolnshire Unitary Authority.
It is important that as many responses as possible are submitted - particularly if we are to get the best offer for West Lindsey.

A new Greater Lincolnshire LGR hub has recently been launched which contains factual information about the LGR process and links to all of the proposals being consulted on for the area. www.greaterlincolnshirelgrhub.org/local-government-changes-greater-lincolnshire

An update from LCC Trading Standards -

A case of Avian Influenza (bird flu) H5N1 has been confirmed near Welton, West Lindsey. As a result, the Government has established a 3 km Protection Zone (PZ) and a 10 km Surveillance Zone (SZ) around the infected place.

These zones are designed to prevent the spread of disease and apply to all keepers of poultry and captive birds, whether kept commercially or as pets.

We are contacting you as parts of your parish may fall within these zones.

What is Avian Influenza?

Avian Influenza (AI), commonly known as bird flu, is a serious disease that affects poultry and other captive birds. It spreads quickly and can cause high mortality in birds. The virus can be carried by wild birds, so strict controls are essential to prevent outbreaks.

AI is a notifiable disease. If you suspect that kept birds are showing any signs of disease, you must immediately report it to APHA by telephoning 03000 200 301.

National Prevention Zone

In addition to local zones, a Prevention Zone is in place across Great Britain. This means all bird keepers, everywhere, must follow strict biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of disease spreading.

Keepers in the Protection and Surveillance Zones must follow these measures and additional requirements, including:

Keep all birds housed (within the Protection Zone)
Follow strict biosecurity measures (cleaning, disinfecting, and preventing contact with wild birds)
Do not move birds, eggs, or poultry products without a licence from APHA

Share your views on Lincolnshire's Recycling centres!
Have you visited one of Lincolnshire's 11 household waste recycling centres lately? Now's your chance to make a real difference - we want to hear from you! How often do you visit, what do you recycle, and what could make your experience even better?

This year, all of our centres welcomed Community RePaint stores - letting residents pick up free paint, save money, and help cut down on waste. At our Tattershall centre, you'll find the county's first Reuse Shop, where pre-loved items get a second chance, and the Baby Bliss Baby Bank, supporting families by rehoming essential baby and toddler items while reducing waste.

Help shape the future of these vital community facilities and encourage your local community to share their views too. The survey is open until 24 December on Let's talk Lincolnshire - https://lincolnshire.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3cf59469d7c06d7f6c53d43c3&id=1421e606ce&e=6835fae3d2.
