A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a 46-year-old man from Brymbo, Wrexham.

Officers attended an address at Bryn y Ffynnon on Thursday, 25 June, following concerns for the welfare of the occupant, who had not been seen for several days.

He was sadly found deceased inside the property at around 6pm.

A 50-year-old local man has today been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A police presence will remain in the area while enquiries are carried out.

The coroner and the man’s family have been informed.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Rob Mahoney said: “We understand this incident may cause concern within the local community, and I would like to reassure the public that there is a visible policing presence in the area.

“As part of our enquiries, we are appealing to anyone who was in the Bryn y Ffynnon area on Sunday morning (21 June) and may have seen or heard anything unusual to contact us.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area on that day.

"My thoughts remain with the man's family at this difficult time."

We can confirm a man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a death in Wrexham.

An investigation was launched earlier this month after a 38-year-old man was seriously injured following an incident on Market Street in Rhosllanerchrugog shortly before midnight on Friday, 5 June.

He sadly died in hospital on Wednesday, 17 June.

A 37-year-old local man, who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following the incident on June 5, has since been further arrested on suspicion of murder following the man's death.

He remains in police custody, where he is being interviewed by detectives.

The man’s family and coroner have been made aware.

Detective Chief Inspector Eleri Thomas continues to appeal to anyone with information that could assist with the investigation to get in touch.

She said: “I would like to reassure residents that this appears to be an isolated incident, and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the man’s death.

“I also urge that nothing is posted online that could be prejudicial to future court proceedings or undermine the criminal justice process.

“My thoughts remain with his family at this difficult time.”

Following a violent incident in the HGC Wrecsam Wledig / NWP Wrexham Rural area, PD Luna’s sharp instincts and specialist training led to the successful location of a knife that had been deliberately hidden by a subject.

The recovery of this weapon provided vital evidence and highlights the invaluable role our police dogs play in keeping officers and communities safe.

👏 A fantastic result for PD Luna and her handler — professionalism, teamwork, and determination on display.

Shortly before 9.15am today (Sunday, 14 June), we received reports that a body had been discovered close to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in Llangollen.
Officers and paramedics attended the location where, sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's family has been notified, and the coroner has been informed.
Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this difficult time.

Young people across Wrexham and Flintshire are being encouraged to apply to join the Volunteer Police Cadets as recruitment officially opens for new members.

The Volunteer Police Cadet programme offers young people aged between 13 and 18 the opportunity to learn about policing, develop valuable life skills, support their local communities, and take part in a wide range of activities and events alongside North Wales Police.

Cadets meet every Tuesday evening at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Llay between 6:30pm and 8pm, where they take part in engaging sessions covering topics such as community safety, teamwork, leadership, first aid, crime prevention and an introduction to various areas of policing.
