It’s been a busy and positive start to our Hearts & Minds week on the D’s Estate 💚
Today we were out on Dodford Road alongside children from St Gerard's Primary, who were full of energy and enthusiasm to help look after their local area.
It was great to have the Waste Engagement Team with us, sharing tips on the right way to recycle and introducing the new bin system, plus a fun bean bag game that the children loved getting involved in!
The Thirteen Touchpoint Van was also on hand, giving residents the chance to have a chat and access support.
The children from St Gerard’s took part in a range of activities including creating posters about dog fouling and keeping the area clean, as well as a walkabout where they shared their thoughts and concerns. They also had the opportunity to ask questions to Street Wardens and engage with the local PCSO, which was fantastic to see.
A brilliant example of young people and partners coming together to make a difference in their community 👏

🌍 Our highlight of the week was definitely the Cultural Fiesta! 🎉

On Thursday, we welcomed an amazing turnout at NMPFA - Nunthorpe Marton Playing Fields Association
with people coming together to celebrate cultures from around the world.

The day featured fantastic live music from Los Tropicanos, activities including mask decorating, lantern making and football, as well as a variety of international food, with cuisines including Romanian, Dutch, Mexican, British and more. We also enjoyed delicious pies from JUSTLOVEPIES.CO.UK, inspired by flavours from around the globe.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. It was wonderful to see our community come together for such a vibrant and enjoyable event! 🌎❤️

Officers from Middlesbrough South Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out joint multi-agency patrols around Hemlington Lake with Fisheries Officers from The Environment Agency, staff from Middlesbrough Council’s Community Team and Cleveland Police Special Constables, on a sunny afternoon on Saturday 23 May.

This follows concerns raised by residents of antisocial behaviour, drug taking and unlicenced fishing at the lake.

One person was stop searched during these patrols and drug paraphernalia was seized. One teenager was issued with an Antisocial Behaviour Notice (AS13) with further action to be followed by partner agencies.

🗣️ PCSO Peter Johnson, Hemlington ward officer said: “We have carried out these multi-agency patrols due to concerns raised by the local community with regards to antisocial behaviour by groups of youths using Hemlington Lake.

"Joint patrols like today's will continue throughout the year to tackle antisocial behaviour, with positive action being taken against those committing ASB.”

🗣️ David Shears, Environment Agency Senior Fisheries Enforcement Officer, said: “Patrols such as these allow the Environment Agency to work closely with partners such as Cleveland Police to target fisheries and rural crime. A multi-agency presence ensures that we are able to detect and deter a range of illegal activities over a large area. During this patrol we have issued two fixed penalty notices along providing advice and guidance to anglers."
