🚧 Road Closure Notice – Cardowan Drive, Stepps 🚧

I want to make residents aware of an upcoming temporary road closure on Cardowan Drive to allow essential resurfacing works to take place.

📍 Location: Cardowan Drive (between Cumbernauld Road A80 and School Road)
📅 Dates: 7th May to 8th May 2026 (2 days)
🚧 Works: Carriageway surface repairs

🚫 Access:

Road closed to all vehicles (except works traffic)
Local access will be maintained where possible
Pedestrian access will be permitted throughout

🔁 Diversion Route:
Via Cumbernauld Road (A80) → Cardowan Road → Cardowan Drive

An update on central station following the devastating fire on union street in the city centre.

“All services will remain suspended and the station closed on Tuesday 10th march emergancy services are still assessing the damage. No services will run from high level and services will only pass through and not stop at Glasgow central on the low level. Service disruption will likely last several days”

UPDATE: Repairs now complete and road re-opened

🚧 Emergency Road Closure – Main Street, Chryston 🚧

Residents are advised that Main Street, Chryston will be subject to an emergency road closure from 7am on Tuesday 10 February 2026 to allow Scottish Water to carry out urgent underground water repairs.

⏰ Start time: 7:00am, Tuesday 10/02/26
📅 Expected completion: By 11:59pm on Friday 13/02/26 (subject to change)

📍 Location: Main Street, Chryston (around the Lindsaybeg Road area)

🔁 Diversions will be in place, and while temporary traffic lights are currently operating, a full road closure has been agreed to help reduce congestion and delays during these essential works. Some temporary signals will still be required to safely manage the repairs.

🚗 Access:
• All vehicles will be restricted, except for works traffic
• Vehicular and pedestrian access will be maintained where practical

ℹ️ The exact duration of the works is not yet confirmed, but I will share further updates as soon as the road reopening is confirmed.

🎄 Merry Christmas from Councillor Josh Cairns 🎄

As we come to the end of the year, I want to take a moment to wish everyone in Stepps, Chryston and Muirhead a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This has been another challenging year for many households, and I know the pressures families and communities continue to face. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to contact me, raising issues locally — your voices matter, and I’ll continue to represent you as strongly as I can.

A special thank you goes to all those working over the Christmas and New Year period — especially Council Workers, NHS staff, care workers, emergency services, and those in retail and transport — your dedication does not go unnoticed.

I hope this festive period brings you some rest, warmth and time with those who matter most. If you do need support over the holidays, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Here’s to a healthier, fairer and more hopeful year ahead. 🎅✨
