Laleston Community Council covers an area situated west of Bridgend Laleston Community Council covers an area situated west of Bridgend.

In addition to the village of Laleston it includes Bryntirion, Brynhyfred [part], Broadlands, Cefn Glas [part] and Llangewydd Court. For electoral purposes the Community is divided into three uneven wards, ie. Cefn Glas 1 Ward
Cefn Glas 2 Ward and

Laleston Community Council is proud to announce that the new Chair, Councillor Vivienne James, has chosen Marie Curie Bridgend as her Charity of the Year.

Councillor Vivienne selected the charity in recognition of the incredible support and care Marie Curie nurses provided to her mother and family during a difficult time.
Speaking about her decision, Councillor Vivienne James said:

“The Marie Curie nurses helped us as a family when Mum’s treatment stopped, and she returned home after a lengthy time in hospital. They showed great compassion, care and empathy, and now I want to give something back.”

Throughout the coming year, Laleston Community Council looks forward to supporting Marie Curie Bridgend's fundraising efforts and raising awareness of the vital work they do for families across our community.

🌟 A Proud and Well-Deserved Achievement 🌟

Laleston Community Council is delighted to share that Estelle and Elizabeth, whom the Council nominated for the Bridgend County Unsung Hero Award 2026 through BAVO, have been selected as winners.
Estelle and Elizabeth's success is a testament to their outstanding hard work, dedication and commitment to the Pantry, where they have made a real difference to so many people in our community. Their tireless efforts, kindness and willingness to support others have not gone unnoticed.

This year, BAVO received an exceptionally high number of nominations across seven award categories, making the judging process incredibly challenging for the selection panel. To be chosen from such a strong field of nominees is a remarkable achievement.

We are incredibly proud to have nominated Estelle and Elizabeth on behalf of Laleston Community Council. We are thrilled to see them be recognised for the positive impact they continue to make.

Congratulations, Estelle and Elizabeth, both truly worthy recipients of this prestigious award. 👏🎉

Laleston Community Council is pleased to help promote the upcoming Boules Evening taking place at Blandy Hall on Friday, 19th June 2026 at 6:30pm, organised by the Pencoed Town & District Association.

Last week, our Community Council marked the official handover of the Chair to Councillor Vivienne James , Independent,Laleston Community Council. We congratulate Vivienne on taking on this important role and look forward to seeing the dedication, leadership and fresh ideas she will bring to the year ahead.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Cllr Sarah Philpin - Independent - Cefn Glas for her outstanding commitment, hard work, and service as Chair over the past year. Her dedication to the community has been greatly appreciated, and her efforts have made a lasting impact across Laleston, Bryntirion, Broadlands and Cefn Glas.

Councillor Sarah Philpin represented the community with pride, passion and integrity throughout her term, and we thank everyone who supported the Council over the past year. We are delighted that she will continue to serve the community as a valued councillor.
