My first attempt at 'Drawing Moments in the Fox Field'

Inspired by our trip this summer to Kent where I had a lovely morning at the garden of Great Dixter, and seeing the drawings of the gardens by artist Rosie MacCurach, I decided to start portraying the different spaces in the Fox Field.
With dew diamonds in the grass by my feet at the sun on my back, I sat down to soak up the still morning air with pencil in hand. The drawing of Rosie MacCurach were all black and white but with their variety of texture and shade they inspired me to practice portraying the landscape without colour. It was challenging when the distant moorland hills gleamed with bronze bracken and nearby old hawthorns with ruby red crowns. Oh, glorious September 2014! See my first attempt in POST above.
