Keep Mould & Condensation Under Control

Condensation is one of the most common causes of mould in the home, but a few simple habits can make a big difference.

Condensation happens when warm, moist air meets cold surfaces like windows, walls or mirrors, causing water droplets to form.

Here are some easy ways to reduce moisture in your home:

• Open windows regularly or use trickle vents to improve ventilation.
• Use extractor fans when cooking or showering.
• Keep lids on pans while cooking.
• Wipe away condensation from windows and sills.
• Try to dry clothes outside or use a tumble dryer where possible.
• Keep your home heated at a steady temperature during colder months.

Taking these simple steps can help prevent mould, protect your home, and create a healthier living environment.

If you notice persistent damp or mould, let your landlord or letting agent know as soon as possible so it can be investigated.

Lost power in your home? Here are a few quick checks:

• Check your neighbours – if other houses in your street are also without power, there may be a local power cut.
• Check your consumer unit – if your neighbours still have power, check whether a trip switch has tripped. If it has, you can try resetting it.
• Call 105 – the National Power Cut Helpline can provide information about power cuts and help you report a loss of power.
• You can also check National Grid for live updates and information about power cuts - www.nationalgrid.co.uk

If there isn't a power cut in your area and your trip switch continues to trip, please report this to us as a repair.

Electrical safety isn't just good practice, it's a legal requirement for rental properties in England.

Here's what you need to know:

• Have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) carried out at least every 5 years by a qualified and competent person.
•Keep a copy of the report and complete any required remedial work within the timescales specified.
• Provide a copy of the valid EICR to new tenants before they move in and to existing tenants within 28 days of the inspection.
• Supply the report to the local authority if requested.

Your EICR will confirm whether the electrical installation is satisfactory or unsatisfactory, helping to keep your property compliant and your tenants safe.

Need to book your next EICR? Get in touch today.
