Nottinghamshire Police is looking for volunteers to support a new scheme.
Street Watch is a scheme for the community run by the community to improve the local area. Street Watch is a group of community-minded residents who walk their local areas in pairs or small groups, wearing high-visibility jackets. The member’s role is to report to the police or relevant local agencies to help improve their community.

Who Can Join?
Anyone between 18 and 80 who cares about their community is welcome. Whether you’re retired, a student, or just someone who wants to improve their community, Street Watch is open to you. All volunteers receive training and support from their local policing team. An identified PCSO is allocated as a point of contact and will stay connected with the nominated community coordinator for each group on a fortnightly basis and then once a month would arrange to come out with your group to support you.

Residents of Fernwood, there are currently numerous planning applications in progress that will significantly affect our area. These include:
• Persimmon application (Great North Road and Claypole Lane): Proposes the construction of approximately 200 new homes, expanding residential capacity and increasing local traffic.
• Development on land between the Great North Road and the A1: Plans for further housing, details to be confirmed, set to add to the overall number of new properties.
• Tesco application: Includes a proposed new supermarket and parking area on land between Suthers School and the Tawny Owl roundabout, which will introduce additional amenities and potentially more vehicles to the area.
• Housing along the new southern relief road: A large-scale development under reference 25/01485/S73M, with significant numbers of new homes planned along the newly constructed route.
It is crucial that residents have their say on these developments, especially the massive build along the southern relief road (reference 25/01485/S73M). Please submit your comments as soon as possible, as the consultation period is ending soon.
To submit your comments, please visit the council's planning portal at https://www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/viewcommentplanningapplication/ and enter reference 25/01485/S73M. Alternatively, you can email your feedback to [email protected] with the reference number included.

By using our planning application website, you agree to the Council's disclaimer, together with the Council's disclaimer for viewing planning applications. There are more details about how we use your data on our planning privacy notice.

Really excited to see the play park progression. This has been a big project for the parish council working in conjunction with FirstPort. A bit of red tape to get through but me and Councillors Kim Shepherd and Leigh Rixon have worked wonders and fingers crossed we have got it right for you all.
