Your local councillors have secured an agreement with Newcastle City Council to fund our Welfare Rights Service, meaning this vital service will continue — but it will no longer have to be paid for from our ward budget.

That’s a double win.

✅ More of our ward budget can now be spent directly on Blakelaw and Cowgate.

And we want that money working in our community.
We’re inviting local community groups, charities and non-profit organisations within the Blakelaw and Cowgate ward boundaries to come forward and express an interest in receiving a grant.

"A newborn baby girl found dead at a Sheffield house was stabbed to death, police have revealed - as detectives continue to question five people over her murder.

The infant was discovered at a property in Holywell Heights, Wincobank, after South Yorkshire Police received a 999 call at 5.58am on Sunday reporting concerns for the safety of a baby.

A forensic post-mortem examination has since established that the child died from stab wounds.

Seven people, aged between 15 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of murder following the tragedy.

Two of those arrested, aged 26 and 37, have since been released on bail, while detectives obtained a warrant allowing them to keep the other five suspects in custody for longer.

The grim find shocked the neighbourhood, where residents described the three-bedroom property as regularly being occupied by a large number of people.

One neighbour said the house had been rented by a Slovakian family who moved in around eight months ago.

She claimed there could sometimes be as many as 12 people inside the relatively small home, including children and adults."

That's how desperate the Tories have become!

14 years of failed governance and then they have to resort to this kind of malicious behaviour!

Unbelievable !

French police are investigating after a migrant was found dead and three others were wounded on a small boat that was still allowed by authorities to continue on its voyage to the UK.

The dead man was a 34-year-old Afghan national who died on Friday, despite being airlifted to hospital.

Another man was stabbed, and two women burned on the same boat, but 42 of the 72 originally on board were still transported to England, and taken into the care of UK authorities.

A spokesman for the France’s Maritime Prefecture said on Saturday: ‘Early on the morning of August 28, the Ridens [rescue vessel] picked up 72 migrants requesting assistance.

‘During the rescue, the vessel discovered one person in the boat suffering from cardiac arrest and three others who were wounded.’

A helicopter was used to transport the injured back to France but a doctor ‘pronounced the individual dead upon arrival,’ said the spokesman.

Forty-five of those on board continued towards the UK and were picked up by a British rescue vessel, according to French authorities.

News of the fatality came after 494 migrants arrived in the UK on Thursday, the first to successfully cross the Channel in 10 days.

So murderers are invading the UK hourly now?!?!?
