It’s impossible to reach the end of term without that ‘I’ve hit a brick wall’ feeling. Both kids and teachers alike!

So give you and/or your kids a big hug from me

First priority isn’t learning. Creating a safe environment has to come 1st - it’s paramount.

You can have the best resources, teachers, intentions but they won’t have an impact until your child feels safe enough to relax and make mistakes.

This is tough for ADHDers who are constantly criticized in a system that often sets them up to fail.

A vicious circle of behavior - too loud, too fidgety or zoning out- teacher reacts negatively- child feels unsafe and misunderstood - reacts by being louder, more fidgety or zoning out- missing out on learning - not knowing what’s going on - and so it continues.

Have you noticed how your child does this? When things are going well they can start to learn, for them positivity leads to learning BUT when things unravel they just keep spiraling down?

Seriously, its a game changer.

BUT you aren’t the one qualified and you don’t want to question the teacher! I know, i get it. You don’t want to make it worse or make a fuss. Yep, I felt all of these concerns deeply too.

It stopped me from being my child’s advocate. Instead I stood back until it was a BIG problem. NOW it breaks my heart to see parents wrestle with finding their voice and their role.

Your child needs you.

They’re in a system that’s not designed for them. They need help to navigate it.

AND believe me when I say that 99% of teachers will welcome your input. They’ll be struggling at times, out of ideas and strategies that work.

So share what you know works with your child’s teacher.

If you want to talk it through first - ask me. I’m here for you!

Let me know how it goes xx

(FREEBIE ALERT) Check out my Guide
*How to know if your child REALLY knows their sounds!!! If you have a struggling reader and are wondering where to start, this Guide is perfect.

Or for you to finally see where my child really as one parent described this activity!

In this (free) Sounds Guide, I walk you through step-by-step how to nail down if there are gaps- providing you with clarity
about what your struggling reader needs to do first.

I get it. We think that our kids MUST know their sounds. After all, they are 6,7,8 or 12, BUT you'd be surprised

Yes, it's the first stage, but it's the bit that many struggling
readers just don}t master because it happens too fast. As a
result, they don't get the practice that they need.

This is why it pays to go back and check. There's a huge payoff for the effort upfront - your struggling reader can make the progress they’re capable of.

When you have ADHD School is easy peasy lemon squeezy!

SAID. NO. ADHD. CHILD. EVER

This parenting an ADHD child - It’s hard.

Trying to navigate the system, be our child's voice when they can’t speak up , and work out how our child can be happy, achieve or just feel as if they fit in, can feel triggering, frustrating and downright exhausting for us parents.

Like when...

👎your ten-year-old will do anything but their homework. They plead that it's too boring, say they'll do it later or just point blank refuse.
👎your six-year-old has thrown themselves full-on into a game then been too handsy and hurt another child whilst playing rather than being gentle with their actions and knowing when to stop.

👍your eight-year-old has forgotten what day PE is on or they don't know where they have left their jumper, pencils, book bag, lunchbox etc AGAIN...
eight-year-old

While these behaviours are normal for kids with ADHD, mainstream school systems struggle to make it easier for our kids to navigate them.

Which is WHY I created READING101 so I can get kids reading with 1-to-1 tuition and guide parents through the school system.

You and your child will gain far more than you think!

Your child will become a reader and you will learn how to be their advocate. From what support they can get at school, to how to cater for your child's needs in a class of 30, to systems that can be put in place to manage hyperactivity and more...

Go to my bio for your chance to join Reading 101 or if you would like a chat to find out more you can book a no sales, no strings free chat.

Does your child refuse to read at home? Do you need support to get going? Are you overwhelmed or stuck?

You are definitely not alone, after lockdown more and more
families are looking for help because reading has become
hard going, and in a lot of cases it is a battle.

Don't panic - because YOU can do this.

There are so many
simple ways you can help your reader.

I am going to let you into a secret - setting goals at home is
the answer to getting started.

⏰Set a goal for how long your child is going to read for at
least x4 a week.
⏰ Record how many minutes you read for each time you
read.
⏰ Celebrate by praising their effort every time your child
meets their target.
⏰ You will see your reader grow in confidence and start to see
themselves as a reader.

You can download the free Weekly Reading Charts' just go to
the link in my bio so you can record and celebrate your child's reading.

I’d love to know how you get on ###
Happy Reading

I'd love to know haw you get on.

ADHD will affect how your child learns because it impacts their working memory.

Once you know this, things start to get easier!

With twins, one who does and one who doesn't have ADHD, I get to see the difference first-hand on a daily basis! I can honestly say that I'm no longer frustrated but in awe of how hard my child works because I understand how flippin' difficult it is for them.

It explains WHY your child can't remember what they understood from one day to the next.

It's helpful to see your child's learning as a bottle! The route liquid (information) takes is different for kids with ADHD because the shape of the bottle (how their brain works) is different.

For kids who have ADHD, instead of a wide bottle neck, there is a long, thin tube for liquid (information) to travel down...

What does it mean?
💁🏻 Although it might take longer, kids with ADHD CAN learn.
💁🏻 It explains why repetition and consistency make the most significant difference
💁🏻 It highlights why small steps and tasks work best.
