Newport Parish Council are inviting expressions of interest from Newport Residents for the establishment and development of a Community Garden

A Community garden is a shared green space where individuals or groups collectively cultivate plants, such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs, fostering social connection, education, and environmental stewardship.

Community gardens provide numerous advantages, including:

Food security: Access to fresh, locally grown produce.
Health and Wellbeing: Gardening promotes physical activity, reduces stress, and improves mental health.
Environmental Impact: They enhance biodiversity and promote sustainable practices.
Community Development: Strengthen neighborhood bonds, encourage volunteerism, and create inclusive spaces for cultural exchange.
If you would like to express an interest in using public spaces in the Newport for gardening please send your comments via the contact form https://newportpc.org.uk/contact-us/ for future consideration by Newport Parish Council,

We have started to send recycling information packs to all households in the East Riding which tells you when your bins will be collected.

Some residents are moving to weekly brown bin collections. When weekly brown bin collections begin in your area, your blue and green bin collection days will also change — but they will still be collected fortnightly. If you haven't changed to weekly brown bin collections this year, then you will swap to weekly collections next year. Find out when your brown bin collections will change to weekly here: https://orlo.uk/g9P0o

If you have the East Riding app you will automatically be notified when to put your bin out for collection.

Wallingfen Methodist Church and Centre

Newport Parish Council have nominated the Wallingfen Methodist Church and Centre with ERYC as an asset of community value. To encourage our application public support is beneficial. We would appreciate positive comments of support to submit with the application which will be determined Monday 12th December by ERYC. There is a group of people in the village very keen to keep this premise as a community space and retain this place of heritage for the village
